I wanted regionals to go away when I was working at a regional...its not selfish, its looking at the long-term BIG PICTURE.

Do you really consider CMH to DEN regional? How about ORD ot MIA?
Or ORD to AUS.......
Yes some of the routes now flown by small jets use to be flown by REGIONALS but by and large regional meant.... RDU to ORF, JFK to BDL... Jetstreams, Shorts and Saabs......The lines have been blurred by the industry.....

Although not every line will be upgraded, mainline will cherry pick to improve their profitability and if it doesn’t work out then expect a return of larger regional jets.
I for one am EXTREMELY HAPPY to see the industry turning back in house. I am very excited and I feel that our futures are looking brighter seeing that the overwhelming majority of us have dreams of one day making the move to mainline.

ok so the bottom line out of all this is that skywest should vote in the new pay package. why?
1. theres no solidarity there and theyre going to do it anyway
2. they cant negotiate for anything better than that
3. many skw pilots apparently want to make that place a career
good luck to you. as a former skw pilot i really care what happens to you guys i just hate to see you get shorted even if you are an industry leader.

i think many at skw needed to see this proposed pay. They had believed their management would "do the right thing" and couldn't understand why so many other pilot groups were upset over the alpa vote. Management cool aid is meant to keep labor unions out and keep labor costs down. Management won. Many of their pilots believed they would have industry leading or matching pay and kept repeating "wait till the pay rates come out in January..." ... this should be all the reason more to get organized at skw. Those that had the red lips from the kool aid might take a more realistic look at their situation. the answer might not be alpa but something needs to happen.

I guess it's all in how you define "an industry leader."
Yes because of having no representation, thus having no real bite, we don't lead the industry in negotiations but you could say that we lead in industry in Kool-Aid drinking. LOL!

well this pay proposal is not going to infuriate the skw pilots and cause them to organize. that would just be way too ideal. instead theyll vote it in and continue to defend or justify the crap theyre being fed. and yes they are a leading regional airline, but i didnt say pay-wise.
even if you like where you work, you can still stand up every once in a while for yourselves. theres no shame in that.
