PSA Hiring
#151
Man, not the news I nor any PSA pilots want to here. PSA has had nothing but bad luck the 2nd half of this year. I hope with the new year comes better luck. Im just curious why they keep on advertising that they are taking resumes to fill future vancancies if they arent going to get any additional flying in the near fututre? They have like 30 in the pool and we probably wont see a class date in the 1st or 2nd quarter of 2009
Like I said. Just a rumor. About a 10th hand hearsay at that. I'll believe when I see it.

I heard the same rumor but it went something to the tune of TK was bragging to a recurent class that he could furlough another 28 if he wanted to. Personaly I don't take anything TK says seriously. He also said in my indoc class that Airways told him they wanted wholyowneds doing at least 50% of the Express flying yet it seams I have been seeing more AWC at CLT. From what I have been hearing the Reserve guys are still not doing much flying however the lines are still heavy. TK would have alot better arguement to furlough more if there were not so many heavy lines.

I dont see why Airways wouldnt want PSA/PDT doing 50% of Express flying. It makes more sence to me that if you have wholyowned regionals you would utilize them more than airlines like Mesa, RAH, AWC and TSA. If Mesa goes BK then I would only hope that PSA/PDT would pick up a majority of their flying.

Well when the day comes that the contract carriers pay for their own gas they are going to be in for a surprise.
Gone will be the 10% profit margins.
It doesn't make sense to me that US Air has 10 different regional carriers. Although Air Wiskey and Republic did lend them some money so they are going to be around for a while.
Regionals will not be getting more flying now that there are furloughed pilots from mainline on the street.
What you see today is what you are going to see in a year from now. Except that Mesa collapse is going to spread some flying about. DOn't think that a wholly owned is anything better than elsewhere. Go to republic or air wiskey or sky west before you even think about going to PSA. I can see upgrades looking like American Eagle....10 years...
