This statement demonstrates your complete ignorance of the regional industry in general and SKW in particular.
Mesa is an entirely different subject. I wish more of the people who try to tell SKW pilots how to manage their company would re-direct their concern towards their union brothers over at MAG...that's a REAL problem which needs fixing.

JJ- with ALL DUE RESPECT, please I am not trying to bash you here, but isn't the proposal in front of you telling you something different than the attitude you (very properly) display in your final comments? This is America, land of competition and greed. That is fact, and these entities are out for themselves. The "1950's scene" is long gone, if it even ever existed to begin with as far as labor/management relations. It is true that they owe you big- MAG owes my pilot group big as well but we keep getting dumped on every step we take. Be careful; if my spidey senses are right, there may be changes afoot at SKW and this may be the tip of the iceberg.
OR, tomorrow the management team might wake up and slap themselves in the forehead and say "What were we thinking fellas? We have to right this wrong, and we better do it 21 skadoo before the pilots get too mad!" Pardon my MAG-bred skepticism but I don't think that will happen.
Y'all have had a good run of it and lucked out with a good management team up to this point; things change, people change, companies change. Perhaps it is a function of how large the pilot group has become- the "mom-and-pop" mentality (we love our employees) of the SkyWest of the past may be a thing of the past.
The only problem is that with the no vote for the union y'all now have 2 years to be vulnerable to these kinds of attacks. This is just the pessimist in me speaking from nearly 5 years of 121-tough-love at MAG. I know, I know:
year:
1: L
2: O
3: S
4: E
5: um... R

Yes, I'm almost a 5-year loser!

Of course, we at MAG with our big fancy union and all just keep getting dumped on and dumped on... aw heck. Who knows what the answers are, but going it alone and relying on the gentlemanly resolution of contracts because they should know that they owe you is a fantasy I can only dream of being a part of.
G'luck! I hope there is good news soon because all us MAG bottom feeders look to the hotshot regionals like SKW for inspiration. Is that why we probably lost 150-200 pilots to you in 07?

Best of luck to all MAG pilots, you guys have it the hardest and I'll continue to buy the first round on the overnight.
Seriously, Fix It or Sink It!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love your campaign slogan. Not that you really have to do that much to sink MAG seeing you have Johnny "O" at the helm. Going it alone would only be your doom and his joy.
Good Night ALL!

Well all of our jets unlike Mesa's do have upgraded pilot seat (just look up front in MAG CRJ’s and you’ll understand), upgraded interiors, GPS, paperless performance, printers, they weight less from less MEL stickers
(we have an excellent Mx department), ACARS (on them all) and the shiny (not pealing off) name SkyWest
on the side; as well as we consistently have them washed.
Seriously, I couldn't resist, I need to go to sleep, you guys are way too much fun!

Maybe and I didn't take it as a "low blow," you're just stating your opinion and I respect that; but how about when you count soft pay, which is the fact they don't pay 1.95% and get around $4-$5K per year in bonuses. Total that's about a $5-$7/hr in additional pay for our CR2 pilots and when you add the CR7/9 BHO (Brand Holt Override) to the equation that takes is up another $1-$5/hr ($8-$12 total) dependant upon your year and seat. Unfortunately 1st year pilots don't get the bonuses and 2nd year pilots only get about 25% (what it works out to be in $) of them. His needs to also be addressed in the pay proposal, every pilot should get all the bonuses seeing we all assist in the productivity of this airline. Now if you count base hourly rates, yes XJT has us beat in just about every year.
BTW, I have a friend who works for XJT and he started class two weeks after I started with SKW. His W2’s were $300 higher than mine after yr 1 and I beat him by almost $5K in year two. Just saying, we can argue all you want but that's all we’ll be doing.
I voted YES for ALPA and I’ll vote NO for this BS pay proposal!

As for XJT, we don't have anything more than 50 seat aircraft. So our pay does not reflect rates for larger aircraft. Next, we have on time bonuses as well and profit sharing (which we can cancel and automatically receive a 3% pay rate increase). Also, we have 401k matching as well as a defined benefit plan. Lastly, our vacation rules are exceptional and allows us to maximize time off with minimum vacation days and or maximize pay. If you are here long enough you can pretty much count on getting almost four months out of the year off without worrying about being denied your vacation.
In other words, its not an apples to apples comparison because work rules are all different from one place to another. Therefore you can maximize time off or pay according to your contract at different rates from one place to another.
But I would never say anyone owes me anything because they don't.

Anyways, is a 50%+1 of votes cast required to "ratify" or is it like the ALPA vote?
