This is just a really tough time as you can already tell. Delta and NWA recently reported a combined 10.5 billion dollar loss. About 6.5 of that comes from Delta. United reported over a 500 million dollar loss recently. US Airways also just posted a 236 million dollar loss. Continental reported an 80 million dollar 1Q loss. All of these airlines of course are carriers that Republic flies for.

This was addressed on the majors forum, but just to clarify, DAL and NWA each lost about $250 Million. The billions in losses they claimed was a charge due to lost market cap, and is not an operating loss, a cash loss, or anything that they have to pay. Not sure why they chose to claim the market cap drop as a loss, but presumeably it was some sort of funny-money issue related to the merger.

Yes, I received the email tonight, "You can keep your interview date but....."
Next question, If hired (a big IF when I'm involved) and pooled, until Aug/Sep class date are you expected to stay current in flying? I retire in just a few weeks and will not be flying this summer so can just walk into my class then?

Are you talking personal or legal currency?
As far as legal currency, it doesn't matter. You will do all the approaches and stuff in the sim before the checkride and the checkride will bring up to currency anyway.
If you're talking personal, then try to hit a sim or something at a flight school before you go. But, if you're retiring as a C-12 pilot then you should be able to hold your own in class against a 20 year old who has only been flying a year or two.

Dont sweat it. If you are current and have been flying you will do fine. I had been out of the biz for a number of years when I got back in last year and had about 5 hours in a seneca to knock the rust off before my interview and subsequent ground school and sim. Good luck.

I got the call from Glenda today confirming the pool but I can still interview. I asked about not flying for a while depending on when classes start up. She said currency is a factor but would not give me a timeframe, i.e. current w/in 2 months, 3 or more/less. I would hate to pool up and get the wave off if classes don't start for 6 months. I guess I may be buying some sim time if required.
I have other hooks in the water, 121/cargo/corp/fractional, but the phone remains quiet.
