I'm with you. Yes, there are things at my company I hope to be able to improve in the future, but if I can't, this job still beats real work!

Too many folks here haven't really had to work at a truly chitty job. They just don't know what it is like to be in the real world. Look at the comments:

"Crew scheduling is just a bunch of dumb a$$e$. They are just out to screw me" Yeah, I get screwed sometimes, but with a little sweet talking and treating them like humans, I can get a favor in return.

"I spent all this money getting my tickets, and they pay me food stamp wages." Uhhh, who said you need to end your training in debt? It takes a little longer and is a whole lot more work, but one can start working as a pilot with no debt.

"This job is just a stepping stone." Maybe so, but if the bottom falls out of aviation, is that stone the one you want to be on? Nothing wrong with having ambition, but one shouldn't roll around in chit "knowing" a shower is just ahead.

The list goes on and on, but my personnal favorite is:

"I spend too much time away from home!" Duuhhh! You're in the long haul transportation business, what did you expect????

Anyways, the only thing that matter is Pinnacle is a dump. DO NOT GO THERE PEOPLE!!!! Being on reserve at Pinnacle is like being in San Quentin.

You can CHECK OUT. BUT YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE. Simply the BEST. ****
without getting into a long discussion- 18 days off and weekends is entirely possible, I get what i bid for and currently do not bid for weekends and bid for high credit so typically 15-16 days. i held weekends for months including all the holidays in 07. many guys in my class (and current seniority) hold 18 and weekends. i prefer 3on/3off with high credit (90plus) and typically a few specific days off. The month of april was a joke for everyone but for the past few months i have not had any problems holding exactly what i want.

Those reading this don't look too deep into it- my paycheck is stil $1k or more less a month compared to almost anywhere else at 2nd year pay. whenever pncl gets a contract things will be much better, until then evaluate all your other options. i have just (in the past couple months) changed to a more negative tone b/c at this point mgmt is not using "tactics" in negotiations, they are at the point where dragging feet effects the company's bottom line- which it is their job to prevent,

STFD.

Seniority is everything, get it while you can.
As long as people continue to go to companies with sub-standard pay that treat their employees like crap, then those companies will continue to pay sub standard and treat people like crap. Seniority is very important, but not at the expense of your own QOL/pay and the QOL/pay of others around you.

Hope things maybe eventually will probably get better for you once you're there? Well hope in one hand... you know the saying...

That was well said and I couldn't agree more.

The beauty of internet forums is everyone has different opinions. I came to PNCL thinking things would get better quick. Almost 2 years later i am still hoping while people at other regionals make more 1st year than I do 2nd year. I have upgrade seniority so the pic time is around the corner. looking back I should have left. QOL and Pay are worth alot. Just my opinion.

I hate to say it, but the truth is it might be better to be at a "less desirable" regional like PNCL when growth and hiring at the majors slows. We're still moderately desperate for FOs and Captains due to an intrinsic labor shortage, while other regionals are slowing or stopping hiring altogether. Even if attrition slows, we'll still need people for 6 months.

Of course none of that matters if we go on strike and run the company out of business.

Does the truth hurt? Are you even in a pilot?

Apply for any management jobs lately?

Aviation isn't worth pursing anymore. Look at what it WAS, and what it is NOW. Not the same, and it never will be the same.

That's what I was thinking. With more and more airlines closing their doors, I am afraid that the big hiring spree will start to slow down. What do you all think?

Also, I am not totally in love with the bridge course, Higney, I just wanted to help the company out since they helped me out once.
