When is RAH's contract up with CAL?

I don't know about that...and I think CAL has been planning this a ways out...after all, they flat-out refused longer contract terms that Jerry was looking for in the original bid. It's scary, almost, how bad CAL has it out for XJet...CHQ, I think, got in the middle of something they should never have.

I'm no financial genius, but Chautublic had to have lost serious $$$ after it's all done and said on this contract. Leasing out sim time, training, TDYs, IOE instruction for everyone on company switching to CRJs, leases, MX, etc.
Why bid for a contract that uses planes you've never used before? Now they're removing them 2-3 years into it? That is one awful business choice, whether by Chautublic or Continental.

Both Larry Kellner and B.B. were planning on XE returning the 69 ERJs to CAL. I'm sure they both thought it would be seamless since CHQ already flew the E145. However, XE threw a curve ball when they announced they were keeping the planes, and B.B. had to go to plan B. Take some of the E145s coming off the UsAir side, and pull some FlyI CRJs out of the desert. On top of that, I think B.B. was drooling at the prospect of CAL pilots caving on 50 seat scope. I think he still wants to fly the E170 for CAL, and I pray everyday that will never happen.

Nice summation.
I wasn't aware of the inner workings of the deal, but it seems that XJT got in one last punch before they cut them loose. I fly RJs, but feel that scope needs to be tightened up as well. None of us zooming around with 50 seats look to stay here forever.

CAL could be throwing a very big punch very soon. Look for something at the end of June. It may be the end of XE, but I hope not. I have lots of friends there.

It takes a year to cancel the CPA...nothing is dire or imminent. (unless you're talking about the 51 jets, which still won't leave until Dec 2009)

While certianly few stay forever... EVERY jet regional out there have guys and gals on the seniority list that have been there well over 10 years..... EAGLE is full of them.... We have 80 or so at RAH... with some with over 20 years ......
As the years progress I think you will see more CAREER Regional pilots... for various reasons.... many stay because their QOL is excellent and they are doing fine cash wise....others stay because for whatever reason they may not me marketable to a major legacy type carrier...
Will the vast majority of jet regional pilots stay there? probably not..... but there are no absolutes and there are certainly regional guys who are for whatever reason content with their current employer.
I do believe BB got into CAL flying hoping to get scope relaxed.... will it happen probably not.... could it happen... sure.... Hell I was around Eagle in the early days when APA pilots said NO eagle pilot will EVER fly a jet.... the business has morfed into what it is.... and its doing so at a rapid rate right now. For any of us to sit here and think we know exactly what the situation will be in 18 months or 5 years is pure conjecture. If there is no additional scope relief from any of the mainline pilot groups they better get off their high horse like Airways pilots did and agree to fly mid size 90-110 seat regional type jets for a reasonable price. Good luck to all especially the guys at XJT.

Because both thought they could get CAL pilots to give up on scope and fly the mighty E170 for them......that didnt happen. Im pretty sure there are public statements by the RAH CEO stating that.
