United RFP???
#41
I am gonna guess we will put a bid in regardless of if we have a real shot or not at getting more flying. It just does not seem like the thing Skyw would do unless United says to not bid. We have a ton of pilots, and as much as it sucks to say, if things get worse for Mesa there may be some airplanes out there that can be put into service pretty quick. I hate to gain at others expense, but in these times SkyWest has to bid on everything!

The RFP was received on May 9 th and the bid is due on May 21 st .
It is a short-term RFP for 10 Q400s, 10 Dash-8s, 20 50-seat jets, and 20 70-seat jets.
Bids can be for any combination of those aircraft.

Horizon will pick it up. They have a secret order of Q400s to replace the rjs they are getting rid of....
or how about lynx getting ten more planes... Flying for both F9 and UAL that would be interesting.
I know! Colgan opens Den and brings all the Qs from EWR...

Mesa currently operates 20 CRJ-700's for United.
The other 30 aircraft (20 CRJ and 10 Q-400) are to replace the 45 CRJ-200's flying for United.
Net is a slight reduction in the CRJ-200's, and 10 CRJ-200's traded for 10 Q-400's.
Mesa is in Ch.11 by the end of June, out of business by the end of the year.

Unless you have some solid proof that we are going to have another contract terminated, try to stay away from more Mesa predictions. It makes you look stupid, and wastes a minute of my day having to type responses such as this.
Speculate all you want about who will get the RFP (if it even exists), but quit flaming those of us Mesa people here with your bankruptcy dates.
Why not make predictions about airlines that have bigger problems than us? The furlough rumor about Mesa is untrue at this point. No furloughing, just the letters sent out to waive the companies responsibility to pay furloughees for 60 days. Purely a CYA move. Things are quiet around here right now, business as usual.
Not saying were doing awesome, but it could be worse. It was a month ago.
