Hmmm, get rid of scope in exchange for a preferential Skywest Interview?

So wait, you get laid off from SkyWest Holdings, Inc and your severance is an interview to work at SkyWest Holdings, Inc? That would be one for the courts as it would be very easy to prove that one already works for SkyWest Holdings, Inc. . .

Separate companies under one umbrella. Get furloughed at XJT, and have preferential hiring at SKYW, starting back at year 1 pay.

Who doesn't think thats a good deal?

HEAVY sarcasm noted

Scope was put in the contract for a reason and it should absolutely remain there. The skywest *offer*as it stands is bs, vote NO!

I don't think it is up for vote nor do I think there is an offer on the table.

Of course, my crystal ball has proven to be absolutely defective and I can't get an exchange for a working model.

You're right but it will have to go to a vote with the pilots if a deal is worked out between mgmts.

The only vote the pilots are eligible for are if the contract were to be amended or the pilot held stock and there was a stockholder vote. Front line employees don't get too much of a say in a large corporation's business dealings. The RLA prevents airline workers from most of the things they could do to express their opinion. So, like everything else, have your backup plan in place and a polished resume.

jedinein: i dont think your familiar with this particular scenario.

skw wants to buy us but the deal is contingent upon our pilots removing the scope language from our contract. they could buy us with our contract as is which i dont think anyone would mind except for skw pilots but they do not want to do that. Our MEC has stated that they will not make a decision without our pilot groups vote on the matter. No vote = our current contract stands and skw wont buy us.

I'm fairly certain doing anything to scope would qualify as a "contract amendment" thus requiring a vote.

Reading comprehension, gotta love it.

As far as listening comprehension goes, there doesn't seem to be a current offer on the table by Skywest. Even if there was, it would be far above my pay grade. As I already have my backup plan in full swing, I have no worries. Others, with the general state of the economy and seeing the typical cycle of airlines, might want to make sure their backup is ready to go.

SkyWest can go fly a kite with their last offer. I'm actually offended by it to be quite honest.
