Are the Feds in bed with Piedmont Training?
They must be... considering the fact that not one pilot has received 300 Stick Shaker training, (which was a mitigating factor in the BUF tragedy.) If the Feds were doing their job, then they would INOP the shaker system until such time as the pilots can be trained. (Of course admitting this would confirm that the FAA has been asleep at the switch / in bed with Keen and Co.)

I have Mel'd the pusher system lots of times and the only thing that the Mel says is that don't go below Ref Speed. So INOPing the system would only create a paper trail.
I guess here at PDT we have been lucky over the last 8 1/2 years of operating the 300's.
Happy holidays

If there is one thing I've learned about PDT's operations its that if it costs money, we aren't doing it.
How much would stick pusher training cost us? Maybe 5 minutes per pilot in the sim? So no, we haven't done it.

For those of you without access, this week's AP highlight:
"We are still in the evaluation/business case process (very early stages) with west flying. As I stated in an earlier posting, we have a way to go before we will know if such flying could come our way. More to follow."
The rest was mostly just maintenance questions; hope some of you got to spend the holidays with your families at least.

Apparently the only reason why we're getting some PHX flying is because mesa decided not to operate only six dash eight in their fleet since they're losing ten from united, and said to USair we're dropping the six on your side. So, that's how Piedmont comes into play, by getting some left over by some retarded contract carrier. Very depressing even though i admit we absolutely need it. And now management is twisting their thumbs about an outstation out there to make it cheaper on operation and realize it won't work on their favor from the fact that "if an outstation get open back west not many employees will be willing to move so they will have to pay for a lot of force move and if the west need some coverage we talking about deadheading someone for three legs in other to reach the west outstation with facing the possibility of not even being legal to fly by the time someone gets there" So they're pretty much stuck with opening PHX as a base even though they don't want to, but still trying to find every way possible to work around it. I guess we just have to wait and see the final answer.
