Do we know yet if the new FMS in the 100s will be dual UNS? The universal press release made it seem like they would be since it mentioned approach capability. I believe you need a dual installation for that.
To answer the previous question, all a/c currently have a single FMS installation. Google "KNS 660", that's what we have in the 100s. Less and less a/c have a moving map now that they are replacing the old radars with new ones that are not compatable with the old 660. So yea, the G1000 crowd will be a little shocked at how we operate.

With the number of VORs out of service and decomissioned combined with various components of the ILSs that go out at all of these airports now, it would be really nice to have the ability to fly GPS routes and approaches. A lot of these LPV approaches have lower DAs than the ILS now.

I doubt there will be dual units only one unit is required for APPs you need two GPS receivers the 300s already have 2 and should be able to do gps now. Looks like the 100s have 1 currently I think maybe that was installed with ScamDar?
