You should get a whole year's worth of whatever vacation your seniority allows. Remember when you were furloughed they took out whatever vacation you did not accrue out of your last paycheck.

So to make things clear...
1. Is it true that everyone is being called back by spring time?
2. Heard that their will be hiring soon, any truth to that?
3. How is PDT affected since Mesa filled for CH11? More flying, possible out of PHX?

Sorry guys if these qs have been posted already

All good questions if you find out let us know ;-) I guess we can answer your questions when things actually start to happen... nothing is official yet. The only one I can say probably not is the hiring soon. With over 70 guys on furlough, I don't see it happening soon I hope I am wrong.

I think I have been getting screwed by unemployment ever since I got on it mainly due to Piedmont (according to the unemployment office)

Can anyone who is currently on unemployment, preferably for the state of Virginia because I do not know how it works elsewhere....maybe the same, check your March 30, 2009 pay stub and see what the total earnings are YTD? Then compare it to the Monetary Determination (for the state of Virgina) and see what the 1st quarter or Jan-Mar 2009 says your earnings are. Mine are over $800 off and from what the unemployment office and I can determine is it is ALMOST the difference between my total YTD earnings and my non taxable per diem. (Difference of about $6) Is it true that they do not use the non taxable per diem to determine your unemployment benefit amount? Since that is part of your total income?

I can't remember where I saw it, but yeah, I'm pretty sure per diem is not part of their calculations because it isn't considered taxable income. It would've been nice to have that extra 30 or so bucks per week though...

also, each of our benefit determination forms will probably be using a different quarter. They take your highest quarter and base your benefits off that. Your highest quarter must have been January through March. Mine was April through June.

Well I know Virgina figures it out based on a total of 4 quarters. Two in 2008 and two in 2009.

Maryland works the same way, 4 quarters, whichever one is the highest is used to calculate it. My benefit is about 52% of my highest quarter + $25 obama cash from the stimulus. I get about $330/ week- about $30 for taxes. I had federal withheld cause I like getting that surprise refund check during tax season.

I was based in SBY but live in VA. At first I thought I filed in the state I resided in, but as I found out it was the state I was employed in. I always wondered if people based in ROA or another base would have to file in that state or Maryland. Based on what Dashtrash is saying I guess you file in the base's state, not always MD, which makes sense.

I just thought it seemed weird at first, since I paid VA income taxes while employed. Would have been nice if the union or company had put out something explaining the whole thing. ALPA has an unemployment website which the union did forward us furloughees to, but it didn't provide nearly enough information.

For what it is worth, rumor has it that there are going to be recalls, and the number I heard was 50ish. As for hiring, I doubt it. Who knows what will happen with MESA they will probaly just become leaner and be able to undercut us even more. Good Luck!

What are the recalls for and will they just be furloughs again come next fall/winter?

Since United and Delta want to end their contracts with Mesa and US Airways is kind of stuck with them with the jets that they operate for Airways, would it be safe to say that Airways is just as reliant right now on Mesa as they are on Airways? If Mesa went under, Airways has no one to operate those aircraft causing tons of cancellations. I don't think Airways could handle that.
