Does anyone have advice on completing the new hire indoc/winter tests prior to class? To rephrase, is it something that you need to read through all of the manuals first, or can you just search through the questions? I didn't get any guidance on any of this. Thanks-

The search function is fine. The books are reference material not memorization material*

*some items actually have to be memorized, but training will let you know when you get there.

Thanks for the info! I was able to navigate through most of it better than I expected. Appreciate the word.

Default Part 135 to PDT

Hello All

Thanks in advance for your help. I am presently in the 135 world and looking to interview soon with PDT. Please could you help me out with a few questions.

Assuming I can start working May 1 -

How long is the training gonna be ?
How long is the reserve ?
Realistically how much time should I give myself to reach the 1000 hrs 121 time for an upgrade ? I presently have 4000 total time.
Can a commute from DFW work ? Are the lines commutable.

Once again thanks for the info.

Ground is 3 weeks. Expect 6 weeks off before sim training. Sims can be 2-3 weeks. it's a 12 sesh footprint.
We do not have reserve lines. When a ca upgrades they add a line to Philly. (Stings a lot of people who went else where for a quick upgrade) fo lines guessing they are the same? Most I flew at Pdt in a year was 979. Pre 117. Think 70 hours is pretty good guess for a month of flying. More if you pickup flying. I don't commute so I'm not sure how painful it is.

That's an interesting question, and one I've never even thought about. Now I'm just curious enough about this to ask for you, but to get a better idea where is "overseas?" I'd bet you have a better shot if AA flies there.

Middle-East. Unfortunately no U.S. airline flies here anymore. The closest would be Europe. I am a U.S. person (veteran and all), previously 121 Captain. Would be moving back home.
