And relying on information from JP about what kind of work would be necessary to get the -200s "refurbed" in order to be flown by PDT? The same JP that was supposedly offering deals for identifying the snitches that went to the Buffalo press about stick pusher training?

To start a thread about FOs without an ATP or PIC time being stuck and never being able to upgrade before PDT shuts the doors? Try asking some of the PDT pilots with a DOH in the early 1990s about their upgrade opportunities! Not only did it take 3000+ hours just to get hired, but it was 7+ years of being an FO before a chance to upgrade came along. If you don't like the current situation, and truly believe that the future for PDT is limited, then please do us a favor and get out! I can't believe the sense of entitlement that is shown in the postings, as if no one has ever had it so bad.

Someone so bitter, so negative, so full of complaints... Paging Dr. Phil!
I agree with the entitlement bit but times are a little different now than back in the 1990's. $22,000/year just doesn't buy as much as it did back then. Humpty diddle didn't cost $120,000 for a 4 year degree. I could rent a 152 for $45/hr wet. A twin for $80.
Times are tougher now then 25 years ago. Not to mention regional flying in the mid 90's was only 30% of the 121 flying. Now it makes up to depending on where you get your stats 54%. Opportunities are dwindling. Age 65 screwed us all. Except the top 10%.
People chase the quick upgrade because that is needed to pay off student loans. All pilots in the last 20 years have been lied to and prayed upon by shady flight schools/companies. Maybe that is why people are fed up and now are demanding.

"So I'm wondering, as the furloughs approach their 1 year anniversary, and with all the talk of people looking for and in many cases finding new flying gigs, do you think the company will recall before we hit the one year mark? PDT has had a poor history in preparing for pilot shortages but I'm hoping they have learned their lesson. Here's to hoping I'll be back in the cockpit by September."

Does anyone have any numbers or estimates on the number of people leaving? I know it's somewhere between a trickle and mass exodus.

I know of 6 people that are waiting on classes with Eagle and 4 people who have already left for other jobs since I got recalled.

Think about it though. If you go from an average attrition rate of 1-2/ month to 10-20/ month a light bulb should go off in mgmt.'s head. "hey maybe we need to be proactive about this and recall some pilots. Better yet let's recall everyone before they hit the year mark so we don't have to spend triple the amount of money to retrain them. At this rate we are going to need everyone off the street in a few months anyway."

Ahh who am I kidding. We're screwed.

Actually it is 18 months before you have to go through the entire training program again, not one year. But I totally agree with you. They need to recall everyone back ASAP.

I'm hearing rumors about Mesa acquiring PDT as they emerge from bankruptcy. And while this seems to make perfect sense in a way that is only possible at USAir, does anyone know if there is any validity to this? In a way, I hope there is... even though it's Mesa, it would breath some life into a dying PDT, and Mesa would be a changed company from what it has been in the past. Plus I kinda want to see all the old timers have a conniption over this!
