PDT News and Rumors

Hey guys and gals... A gate agent today was telling us about a PDT crew this week that declared an emergency due to fatigue, obviously while inflight.
I don't know if she heard right, but even if she did, that sounds like a tall tale. In any case, did it turn out ok/everyone alright? Further details to the truth?

Maybe the agent talking about this??
Their aircraft was 12 minutes from touching down when the crew issued a distress ‘pan pan’ message saying they could not complete the flight.
Instead, they switched the Airbus A330 to autopilot which landed the aircraft without further incident.
It is thought to be the first time pilot fatigue has been blamed for such an incident. However, unions say it will become more more frequent if proposed rules which will extend pilots’ hours are allowed to come into force.
The British Airline Pilots’ Association said: ‘This incident goes to show that fatigue is already a big problem that needs tackling.’
The ‘pan pan’ emergency involved an Air Berlin crew who had been on duty for more than ten hours.
They gathered at midnight in Nuremberg before being driven 160km (100miles) to Munich from where they flew the plane, which can carry up to 303 passengers, to Majorca.
They were on the return flight to Munich at 10.15am when they raised their alert, usually given only when there is an urgent situation on board.
It happened last month but was brought to light by pilots’ organisation, the European Cockpit Association, as it campaigns against a change in rules governing how long

US Airways triples 2nd quarter profit to 306 million? I was told by a union rep, that our first offer would have cost management $10 mil. (3.2% of Airways' 2nd quarter profit.) They told us to pound sand, so we came down to $7 million (a 30% decrease.) ***?
$10 mil is not enough. Not for over a decade on a concessionary contract. It's time to play hardball. Now that they slapped us in the face, and we will have the threat of striking, we ask for a $20 million package with all the bells and whistles (including duty/trip rigs, which I've been told we're not even trying for anymore). Ask for twenty million now, since they couldn't be reasonable throughout this whole thing, and when they low ball that package tell them to GO POUND SAND! I'll tell everyone right now, I will not vote for a contract that does not have duty rigs, trip rigs, and extra protection for more days off. This company will bring everyone down to min days off when the new rest rules go into effect. Yes that means you too, 20-30 year captains.
