You were the one stating a base will remain open and or close based on load factor. As if load factor has anything to do with it. USairways and all majors have record load factor. Guess what LAS is still probably going to close under Airways in the future. But again you know it all. Just like we werent going to bring any furloughed guys back because the current reserve arent flying 72 hours etc.... Last I checked 18 guys were back due to COVERAGE and not the amount of hours one flies while on reserve.

Q100 operators consider Bombardier's life extension programme
Pretty interesting article about Q100 operators - Piedmont is mentioned specifically, and there there are even a few quotes from management. I suppose it would be sort-of positive if I weren't so jaded.

I didn't know PDT has Q100s, I thought they were just straight 100s. Whereas CommutAir has Q200s.

The Q implies that the aircraft has an Active Noise Reduction system installed in the cabin to reduce noise/vibration. The overall 'life extension program' would be something you could apply to any DHC-8-100 not just those with ANR systems installed.

I'll spell it out for you.
Your choices are accept the current contract (concessionary agreement, mind you), and probably have new metal to fly. Or... You can say no to what you have now, continue the current "negotiations" until the leases on the 300s expire, which will then be returned. When that happens, the remaining -100s will be parked. Not much left of those airplanes by then anyway.
My suggestion is beat the rush and shut the SOB down now. Why give management the extra workdays. They can stand in the same unemployment line as the rest.

Last year when oil was in the 140's airways said 'yer doin a helluva job PDT'. That sentiment wore off rather quickly.
If airways doesn't want TPs around, I don't really want to work for an airline that doesn't fly the most economical aircraft they could have on short haul routes anyway.
More money wasted on fuel = less money to give to employees.
Gee, lets go fly a CRJ-7 CLT-FAY and fill it up half-way. Why? Jets are COOL!
