Pay is a major problem at the wholly owns, and why the staffing numbers just aren't there. 10 dollars an hour is a huge difference to a new hire. SJS is the other part. That being said, the growth of pdt is exciting, Every month i get closer to the flow, i can upgrade today and if i did it on the dash i wouldn't sit reserve, if i did it on the emb i would make even more money. Once i upgrade, with triple premium my salary will be close to 100k.

That being said, growth will only come if they raise our salary.

Are new-hires receiving the E145 in initial, or is it sheerly Dash 8?

Sheerly or Shirley's? And don't call me Shirley!
Officially it's the dash 8 rite now.. Unofficially it could be this class sept 12 that some of the new hires go to the e145.

Doesn't matter what airframe you get on, get the seniority number. The smash 8 is a great airframe to actually fly as you actually fly this plane... The chance to fly a classic airliner such as the dash, md80, etc are dwindling.

Oh and pay them more...

New hires are targeting regionals in bases where they live/want to live, higher pay and newer equipment.

Hopefully you'll see a DCA base open up here soon.
Really wish all PDT's bases weren't east coast

I'd love to be Dash-trash for a couple years! I bet their a lot more fun and challenging to fly.

The Dash is a blast to fly. Short approaches and landings, nice to hand-fly, good winter bird. Learning the airplane I would say is certainly harder, and you have to have good instrument skills. I'll never discount the skills I learned or regret the fun I've had on the Dash.

As far as only east coast bases, we have a bunch of folks making the trip from the other coast. I commute about 3/4 of the way across the land myself. With good boarding priority and the commuter clause, as well as the options of other carriers, it is certainly doable.

October bid has more lines with greater than min days off than previous few months bids have had.

A sign of change or just a result of the fall schedule?

I'd even settle for C) All of the above.

There also seems to be less total lines and less open time. Sounds like its just the busy summer season winding down imho..

Ah yes the eternal 474 pilots lol. In all seriousness we should break through by the end of October, if my count is right.
