I thought there was 3 airlines that have never furloughed. Southwest, SkyWest and someone else and I was quite sure it wasn't Mesa.

That's not what I heard at their pep rally in PHX, they explicitly said they were proud that mesa never furloughed.

That was your first mistake. How do you know when JO's lying? His lips are moving!

Obviously, you were not at Mesa on 9/11. J.O. furloughed a couple of hundred guys. I missed the furlough by 50+/- numbers. J.O. tried to furlough out of seniority in order to save R.J. guys & lay off Beech 1900 guys. He got B1tch slapped on that one & just did a straight furlough. That furlough plus the establishment of Freedumb gave him leverage to screw us big time on the contract.

A year or so ago, Ornstein bragged about never having a furlough. I don't know what the moron was smoking, but I have 5 or 6 good friends who were furloughed for 6-12 months after 9/11 at Mesa.

Uh, yeah never trust anything that comes out of their mouths in PHX. I have personally flown with several Captains when I was at Mesa who were furloughed after 9/11.

"My brother works on Wall Street, and he's been telling me all week that something is up with Mesa. He's hearing some grumblings about a bankruptcy filing for the last week or so, (before the latest Delta cancellation).

He'll be the first to tell you that just because he hears some grumblings that it doesn't mean they are filing, but on the flip side of that, most times a company does file, they sense it up there before it happens.

I made a small amount selling some Mesa stock two weeks ago when it shot up (due to some investment group buying a sizable chunk of stock), but now I've went ahead and sold off what I have left.

Good luck to all the Mesa peeps, hope nothing comes of it!"

You will end up like Martha Stewart did if you keep blabbing this stuff on public forums.

It doesn't take a guy working at Wall Street to tell a bunch of pilots that Mesa is struggling. A few months ago JO himself stated they were considering bankruptcy. That was before Mesa was able to win the first round in court with Delta. There are so many other 'fires' that it will be tough to avoid. As soon as Delta yanked more flying from them, it seems like a done deal. I am surprised it hasn't happened yet.

I highly doubt anyone on here has much Mesa stock. Martha Stewart recieved inside information and sold her stock. She was convicted for lying about why she sold it to federal investigators. I personally think it is crap she was sentenced to 5 months for lying. I thought it was common practice to lie to federal investigators. (President Clinton lied about getting a BJ from Monica Lewinsky and didn't go to jail.)

Hey I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers. I will say though that I've had a lot of friends at other airlines "hang on" for as long as they could, before the ship finally sank. Since they were the last to go, when they got hired at other airlines, they were junior to the people who were junior to them at the original airline.

I just think that you shouldn't go down with a sinking ship. Yes, I know the industry is in shambles from a hiring perspective, but if any of you guys at Mesa have an option to make a lateral move and still stay in the industry, I would consider doing it. Nothing worse than being an F.O. to the guy that was your F.O. at your previous airline.
