You do realize that majors purchase and sell regionals too don't you? Especially NWA. So when AMR spins off Eagle you are going to quit so as to not be labeled, in your words, a scab? Should I have quit when the regional I am working for, one which you are so vehemently opposed to, was sold off by its major?

Why do we accept these wages?

I never did and neither should you.
People who work for these wages have themselves to blame!

Regionals are what checkrunners used to be. Time builders. Nobody in their right mind will say that they are going to make a career out of regional

So take it for what it is, bottom wages to build time to move on to something bigger and better.

Like other posts have said, anymore it may not be a stepping stone, but end up where you retire out of. Less jobs are at the majors, while the regionals continue to grow (of course everything is hurting right now).

Also, the 'stepping stone' mentality is partially to blame for conditions being what they are in the first place.

There aren't enough of the "bigger & better" jobs anymore. Those days are gone. If you don't work to improve where you are, you will have nobody but yourself to blame in 20 years.

I dont agree with Mason often.... but the so called regionals as we know them today.... are not just stepping stones as perhaps they once were. Many...more than will accept the fact will spend their careers at these companies... and as such should work towards better conditions etc at these companies. On the other hand... there is only so much upside at companies like these..... realistic demands etc..... should be the aim of the day.

Not sure where you launched the attack from, but you my friend are a tool box. Marxism? try again, and there is nothing in my post that suggested anything to that extent or to the "pay me side of things", and I think most the post echoed your opinion, although you sound like an MBA, and obviously smarter than us, who just drive the bus

Look in the mirror and you'll have answered your question. If you choose to work for a Regional that pays lower wages didn't you know that prior to accepting the position, because after all, you do accept the position.

I believe the direct quote from you was:

"...we are not the only underpaid overworked members of the working class..." My reference to Marxist comments were this and similar comments like this that seem to prevail on this and other airline pilot sites. I read a post earlier that said all pilots should donate a day of pay from their paycheck each month so that their furloughed counterparts could still get a paycheck. I do not have an MBA. I don't claim to be any more intelligent than anybody, but I will say that I can claim to be less ignorant than many on here. I'm just a pilot. Sadly, I have figured out that being a commercial pilot is not a very glamorous job that is sliding rapidly in the wrong direction for an industry in which I would work.

Either way, you will never hear me asking the government to make sure I get paid what I think I deserve. I will go work somewhere that pays what I think I deserve. Most of the people on here think that they deserve something and are unwilling to leave if they don't get it. That just guarantees that they will never get it.
