Quite true. A wise pilot understands that and says "I botched this one, going missed."

But having the skill in your back pocket could be helpful if a wing was on fire, he had to dead stick, or other time one could not afford the luxury of going around.

More than I care to remember.... hum.... 2 in UPT.... 7 the first week in my first squadron....6 more in a AC-130 crash.... 7 more in a squadron crash .... 2 while in the airline biz the first time.....

I have witness three aircraft accidents...... horrific.... F-5 at willy in 1986, KC-135 Fairchild in 1987.... C-130... Sicily Lapes zone 1987....images that I will always have with me.
