Too true. You just gotta hope that these aren't the folks that show up and negotiate against the Harvard Lawyers for our contracts......Looooooossssssseeeeeeennnnnn UP Baby! SPELL....
Attrition is common sense. Where are people going? Overseas perhaps but nobody else is really hiring and most kids don't have the gumption to wear a uniform. The -900 is a very senior left seat while very jr in the right. That has nothing to do with it. They are understaffed on the -200 side for sure and the lack of stability period is not going to allow any solid answers.

I have heard of a lot of guys going International from 9E. There are a lot of CAs who are fed up and are here for a lot longer than they every anticipated . . .
As far as being understaffed, they like it that way. Until we are cancelling 5% of flights due to crew availability (or lack there-of), we wont see more pilots LOL - thats probably an overstatement but you get the point.
ATL is very Senior for lineholders then very junior on reserve. The latter part of that statement is especially true for FOs. There isn't much movement out of ATL since the seat lock is still in place and no upgrades for FOs to escape.
Good Luck!

so the way things are currently, for a new hire with about 600 odd hours, how long could he anticipate before being able to upgrade! in terms of years roughly!!
i know its speculation, but still.. thanks guys!

without growth, considering the most jr. CA to upgrade recently was in the 800's, not many leaving, and upgrades have ground to a halt for the last few months..I'd say best case 3yrs, worst case 5 for a new hire right now.

I'm not at 9E, but it'll depend on how long reserve goes. If there's no new hires coming through, and attrition is low, It's difficult to know how long a person is on reserve. For the most junior people there right now, Reserve is probably lasting quite a while, cause there's no one junior to you, and the movement up is very very slow.
Once you get a line, i typically would guestimate around 85 hrs a month of flight time. Might be a little below that some months, and above on others, but it worked to a nice average, and also worked for a good average for setting a budget....YOU'LL NEED THAT AS A FIRST YEAR FO.

All #'s are subject to change as red rudder required less pilots per jet. All will have to "eventually" be staffer per the DAL banner and requirements....so there will/should not be any difference between the two barbie jets. I believe DAL is about 8 crew per jet....Attrition is too slow if that is your hope, perhaps 7-10 a month at most.

and do these comprise mostly of ca's or fo's?8 per jet for dal, and what about right now for nwa? is it lower? and when you say 8 crew, that means 4 fo's and 4 ca's per aircraft rite?
thanks alot "downinthegroove"
