Sweptback wins.

In addition to 3rd year guys being furloughed, guys that have been in the left seat for 4+ years are going back on FO pay.

Four years ago everyone wanted Comair's industry-leading payscales. Does anyone still want to follow Comair's lead these days?

Good friend of mine is getting furloughed there on Jan 15th I think it is. Just started his 3rd year there too... unimaginable that someone at a regional can get furloughed with 3 yrs seniority.

If we (ALL DCI) are so lucky and fuel can just settle at around this range, Delta may go easy on the cuts or even add routes in 2009-2010. But.... I know that is a huge dream but hey who knows.
.
It doesn't matter that fuels around $35/barrel if no one’s buying tickets. Yes the BEP decreases but you still need a solid yield. Our economy is in the crapper and people are taking vacations closer to home or not at all. If the decrease in fuel does cause DAL to change their projected cuts it won’t be by much. We need a complete rebound in our economy and consumer spending for DAL to make a 180.

True, but look at just about ANY "regional" airline out there. The pilots make up the largest employee group. They also make up the largest chunk of the the payroll of non management employees. By default, pilots have the biggest target painted on them.

Did I read that correctly? You were responding to a NW (DAL) pilot in this post. Would you REALLY be mad because a mainline size aircraft ACTUALLY was going to mainline and NOT the regional?

I had just under 5 years when I took my first furlough. And I wasn't the only one.

I did the math for a flight a couple months back and each passenger was paying $79 for Jet A and about $4 for my services. Maybe $18 for the entire crew, and the difference in labor and fuel is 60 bucks. A whole lot of rampies would have to touch their bags at $8/hour to equal the cost of fuel.

For what it's worth, each passenger needed to pay Delta a nickel to make up the difference between the non-competitive Comair FO they got and the underpaid Mesa FO they could have had.
