That's funny. Can't believe folks at EGL are still dreaming with the 170/190's....

That's funny. I don't recall much talk over here about it then, except in passing. We had many smaller RJ's coming and the economics of the 50-seater had yet to collapse as fuel was relatively cheap. That's when AA started to furlough and no one here was fooling themselves about this airplane.

Look around now and Eagle is one of the few regionals that DON'T fly them. AMR cannot continue much longer with the current system and AA can never compete against other regionals with this aircraft, so now the dreams are back and soon AMR will make it a reality either thru negotiation or BK.

They have no choice, if they want to remain a going concern especially with their future debt problems.

Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock.......................

AA

You're probably right. Most likely it will be up to either an arbitrator or a judge. Both look at the competitive landscape when making their decisions and the landscape for this class of aircraft is pretty obvious.

We shall see.

Will they be as pretty when you're flying them for $35 an hour GoJet competitive payscales?

I heard the new catch phrase is 90-90-90 but am sure this is just a slogan. Pay would be equal to or higher than current CRJ-700 rates with a major focus on bringing FO pay up to 60% CA pay. Due to the extra costs inherent in APA's contract plus the costs of other employee groups, Eagle pilots could be paid exactly what APA's F100 pilots were paid and it'd still be cheaper to fly it at Eagle than AA.

In order for AA to remain competitive in an ever tightening market, they need to close that huge gap between 50 seat Embraers jets and 130 seat S80s. Twenty-five CRJ's doesn't do it.
