U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, & Transportation
Peter Bowler video
Mr. Bowler doesn't come in with introductory statements until about 21 minutes into the 117 minute video. Then its some other dudes talking. Then questions. Statements. Blah blah blah. I would hate to be in politics. I don't know whether its all the butt kissing or all the horse-hockey. As Denny Crane from Boston Legal would say, "this is boring crap!".

Cliff notes from talkairline
54:00 PB talks about safety audits and oversight of feeders by AA. Dances around whole "American Connection" issue. Lucky for him the Senator from AMR never heard of TSA.
65:10 Talking about pay issues at regonal airlines.
68:00 BS level spikes with question, "Why can't a major airline own a small airplane?"
70:30 BS++ About regional airline routes that can't support mainline aircraft (you know, like ORD-DCA, ORD-ATL, ORD-MSP, DFW-HOU, etc.)
83:50 They start talking about commuting.
88:00 This is where the subject of "crashpads" come up.
My favorite part...
92:38 Our Glorious Leader gives the Senators his opinion on commuting. With a smug little sneer he brags about how his ground employees are able to live in high-cost places like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles and "found a lifestyle to sustain themselves" and that "the commuting decision is a lifestyle decision"

My own Cliff Notes
73:30 Senator Dude starts talking about McDonald's Hamburgers and Hamburgers in general. Says "Culligan" when he's clearly talking about Colgan.
74:40 I notice severely hot chick sitting behind Senator Dude and suddenly hear a series of what sounds like Charlie Brown's Parents talking. Wab Waaab Wab Waaa. Chick has awesome hair and a wickedly cute mouth.
75:10 Airline Dude uses stalling phrase I was taught as a flight instructor to allow time to think of answer when you didn't immediately have the answer, i.e., "that's a very good question". Also began recalling the number of times Airline Dudes used the other CFI stalling phrase of "I'll have to get back to you on that".
75:30 Decide that a great drinking game could be created using this video and the word "metrics". I begin to wonder why there is no "cynergy" or things haven't been "right sized".
77:00 Senator Dude starts talking about how old he is, asks whether a lot of military people go into the regionals or head straight for the majors. Captain Gunther kisses some rear-end by saying he doesn't think the senator is that old. I wonder what any of this has to do with the price of tea in China.
77:40 Statistics are fabricated based on intuition.
79:00 I find out Senator Dude is, in fact, Senator Dorgan.
79:50 Senator Dorgan, obviously as bored as I am, walks out the door most likely in the pursuit of a nice hamburger.
80:00 I am so bored to tears I must suspend any further watching for the next 24 hours at a minimum. Limitations on boredom have been exceeded.

Hey when I got furloughed I had to turn in my pilot contract. I remember reading the furlough section which was only a page or so long anyways however I am forgetting the obvious.
What is the deal with recall rights? I thought we had 5 years of recall rights?
How many times can we pass up a recall?
I have been told we can pass up an indefinite amount of calls over 5 years and I have also heard we can pass it up once but then we only get one more shot?
What's the actually story?
Thanks

3. Prior to being furloughed a pilot will be notified in writing of the recall procedures including guidance on using the company’s “furlough/recall” website.
d. A furloughed pilot who defers (“declines”) recall pursuant to Section 16.D will not accrue occupational seniority for the period of time beginning with his deferral of recall and ending with his acceptance of recall, and his position on the Master Seniority List will be adjusted solely to reflect the amount of time from deferral of recall to acceptance of recall.
2. The Company will maintain a website where it will post current furlough/recall information, including upcoming training classes and the deferral status of all furloughed pilots. Pilots may also use the “furlough/recall” website to accept or defer recall as specified below and to maintain their contact information.
4. Furloughed pilots who are recalled to the employ of the Company will be allowed a period of fourteen (14) days to return to the service of the Company after date of postmark of certified return-receipt-requested letter, unless they defer recall pursuant to paragraph D below.
D. DEFERRAL OF RECALL
1. A furloughed pilot may elect to defer recall by so indicating via the Company’s “furlough/recall” website. An election to defer recall or to withdraw a previous deferral of recall may be made at any time.
2. A furloughed pilot who has elected to defer recall as provided in paragraph D.1. above shall not be recalled except as provided in paragraph D.3 below.
3. If all pilots not deferring recall have been recalled and additional vacancies exist, pilots who have deferred recall will no longer be eligible to defer recall and their recall will be in inverse seniority order pursuant to paragraph C.4 above

You did not have to turn in your pilot contract as there was never even a requirement to keep or maintain it. Anyway, if you still have access to the union website then the contract is available on the EGL MEC site. I can PM you the info if you still have trouble finding it yourself.
