As a result of this thread I’ve decided I will no longer tip hotel van drivers.
Just to watch you upstanding citizens, pillars of our society, guardians of blue collar workers...get an aneurism.

You do realize that the only person you are having any impact on is you or the driver, right? It doesn't make me mad or upset when someone doesn't tip. You're just on the same plane as someone who is rude to a waitress or tips less than 10%

If true, this is the first time that APC posts have changed anyone’s mind about anything.

Somebody’s income should not be dependent on what I feel like eating that day or my appetite.
That’s reh-tah-ded.

Any van drivers here? Feel free to chime in on this inane thread. Perfect example here of aviator’s myopic syndrome.

In the past and yes I already have.

Interesting article today that is germane to this thread.
Seems there is statistical evidence that it is partly a generational view point.

Kind of similar but also, not. Van drivers are paid a higher hourly wage than most restaurant servers. Servers/Bartenders/Busers make very low, below minimum wage rates because the assumption is they will be compensated through tipping. Van drivers are not paid this way, at least not often.

I tip... occasionally.

If I have a buck on me, than ya, but not going to go out of my way to collect stripper cash for a van ride. Unless of course the van is taking me to a place where stripper cash is required

But just to stir the pot, how many van drivers invested 10s of thousands of dollars and years of sacrifice to drive their van? I ride the van because it’s apart of work, not pleasure. Unless of course I’m going somewhere with stripper cash

You aren't tipping because they has a poor return on investment. You tip because they go above and beyond just moving you from point a to b..
