Those standards that say Renslow and Shaw were ready to sit in their respective seat are also saying you are ready to be sitting in your respective seat. How many times did you raise your concern to a flight manager or your Union that CA Renslow wasn’t ready to be CA and his practices are jeopardizing safety?

To say fatigue was not a main factor would be saying you were a factor for not raising flags on this guy since you flew 150 hours with this fellow.

This thread is bashing and bringing up nothing that hasn't already been discussed...worthless beating of an old issue to enable self-righteousness

[QUOTE=EWRflyr;651499]By JOAN LOWY, Associated Press Writer Joan Lowy, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – A new cockpit voice recorder transcript shows the co-pilot in February's airline crash in upstate New York said she felt ill and would have liked to have skipped the flight.

First Officer Rebecca Shaw also complained about poor treatment by Colgan Air Inc. of Manassas, Va., which operated the flight for Continental Airlines, and about how little she was paid. Shaw said she earned only $15,800 the previous year and the airline was refusing to give her $200 in back pay she felt she was owed.

The transcript was released Monday by the National Transportation Safety Board. Flight 3407 crashed on Feb. 12 near Buffalo, killing 50 people. Testimony at a May hearing showed the flight's two pilots made a series of critical errors.[/QUOTE

Colgan is a **** paying bottom feeder. SUPRISE!!!!!

If you are sick, you dont work. Colgan had a union at the time of the crash so I do not want to hear any of the "fear of retribution" stuff.

This was the first leg of the first day of trip so I do not see how duty or rest requirements have anything to do with 3407.

Marvin and Becca were simply complacent and not paying attention. As much as I think we need duty and fatigue issues addressed, lets not think that 3407 was anything other than two people not paying attention.
Unfortunately even with a union and AFTER 3407 the company has not changed the sick policy, which they admitted in the NTSB hearings is punitive in nature.

Perhaps he would have been able to maintain a reasonable standard of living AND buy a hotel room if Colgan (and most other regionals) weren't dirtbag operations who care more about saving a nickle than providing a decent living for their employees. The managment of Colgan should be ashemed if they had any decency, but like the swine they are they prefer to hide behind the skirt of the RAA.

I agree with you. Colgan mgmt is a joke. One person in particular, MF, who was an embarrassment during the NTSB hearings needs to try and live on a regional airline wage.

She has the nerve to travel in limos when traveling for the company, too good to take a company provided shuttle van or drive herself

The FAA checkride said he was ready to be a CA. All the IOE check airman said he was ready to be CA. The FAA observed ride at the end of that IOE said he was ready to be a CA.

Now, you have flown and trained with him and think otherwise. You say others that have done those things with him would say otherwise as well. Maybe some of the items above will be/need to be scrutinized by the FAA.

Treat every flight as if your family was in the back.

This is not old news... this is important information released today that was previously withheld by the NTSB (to maintain the sanity of the flying public)? The entire conversation in sterile from the gate to takeoff was previously withheld, but was released today. It's full of complaints about Colgan management and their sick policies, as well as the company culture.

This drags Colgan's name through the mud even deeper. What an embarrassing company to work for.

People may complain about the privacy of the pilot's conversations and what not, but this NTSB info release will put crapbag regionals into the spotlight even more-so and hopefully put some pressure on sick policy regulation as well.

I mean if I call in sick now I've got to put myself in a hotel until I feel better.
you know we'll see how how it feels flying. if the pressure's just too much I
you know I could always call in tomorrow at least I'm in a hotel on the
company's buck but we'll see. I'm pretty tough.

That's laughable! Sure, on paper we had a union in place at the time. Although, to this day, there is still no grievance process because the so-called 'safety first' management at Colgan thinks it would be better to negotiate safety.....instead of following through w/ their lies spewed at the NTSB hearing. Without a contract, and more importantly a grievance process, there is little the union can do to support a pilot in need.

Sick/ fatigue calls ARE punished. One way or another, the company will get their flesh from you for making the call.

Use a safety report or the ASAP to notify the FAA that your company is punishing pilots for using sick and fatigue calls. If you don't want to do it yourself ask a union rep to file one for you.

The union could leak this to the media since there is still interest in the Buffalo crash.
