International Jumpseating on Xjet
#1
Is it true that you cannot jumpseat internationally as an OAL pilot on Expressjet anymore? Despite having done it numerous times in the past, I was told today in IAH that "You can't do that". After taking it to several "redcoats" the operations people even printed me some sort of document that says OAL pilots can't jumpseat internationally. (THey even claimed mainline CO cannot jumpseat internationally on xjt)
Is this just a thing with the IAH station or a policy change for the entire airline?

I'll be honest... I don't remember. The last I remember OAL could not occupy the actualy JS for international flights but could sit in a cabin seat if one were available. But I don't know if it changed either way.

Im waving the BS flag. I used to commute home to MMMY via IAH weekly. They told me we couldn't do it some times. Ask them to print out the jumpseat guidance. It specifically states you cannot ride back in to the US jumpseating in the back. The example on the guidance is from mexico to the US. If you read after where it says OAL pilots are prohibited from jumpseating it states from outside the us back in. Hope this helps..

I meant its true it CANNOT be done. They can print it out all they want, it says clear as day (The Red Coat showed me) INTERNATIONAL....says nothing about "Back into the USA"....all it states is "INTERNATIONAL Jumpseating by an offline Pilot cannot be done"....The problem is they cant even put our name into the system.

it's not a xjet thing...it's an old TSA policy carry over from 9-11, with CASS and CREW-PASS there is no good reason...at least on USA originating flights, why this has not been overruled. you can J/S on an international flight, but you may not sit in the cockpit....

You are 100% CORRECT...except for the fact that Xjet doesn't let you sit in the cabin either....I understand the not sitting in the cockpit, but Xjet wont even let you sit in the cabin with 30 seats open.

The TSA sets the rules and policies of International JSing. It's up to the company if they want to follow them, or make them more restrictive. And its a shame that some companies do make them more restrictive.

Yep....well said. The TSA is a joke IMO. Complete joke of an "Agency".

Yeah, the problem was that they said not even in the cabin... They said this despite the fact that I have ridden into and out of the US on xjet from other stations. I was just wondering if it was only IAH that has it messed up, or if I somehow got really lucky... (EWR had no problem getting me on the paperwork and onto the plane international).
