????? I dont think you understand how regional CPA's work. Expressjet doesnt pay to clean the aircraft, wash the aircraft, etc .... we pay for certain maintenance costs, crew, and aircraft lease and almost everything else gets paid for by CAL or the major airline who we are flying for. Having ACARS is a small cost that makes the operation run a lot smoother and is going to be something that CAL requires (in the future) of every one of its operators after they tried and failed to force CHQ to use ACARS without it being in their contract.

CAl decided that they wanted their aircraft cleaned and washed. That is what the OP was saying. Quit hating.

I know from certain union officials and even some of the organizers that 90% of your pilots didn't vote. Furthermore skywest doesn't have industry leading anything. I have friends there and don't have any real problems with the company itself but don't you find it a little convientent that the company only increases pay of benefits after another...(union) carrier fights for something in their contract. It you have such great labor relations then maybe they'd be giving you all a bigger share of the pie. Perhaps if the pilot group could see what they could negotiate in a fair contract then more would be willing to jump on board.

As far as I'm concerned management there takes on a "me too" attitude. Unless another company offers it they see no reason to either...and from what I've seen and read employees nod and smile.

Its funny how easy it is on here to pick out the guys who you know will turn into "those captains" someday. You know, the ones that make you want to kill yourself as soon as you find out who they are after pushing back on leg 1 of a 4 day. Keep drinking the kool aid over there bud. Sounds like management has you right where they want you. If picking on carriers like XJT makes it easier to look in the mirror everyday, then flame on bro.

2nd. I, like the MAJORITY of skywest are VERY Happy with our current situtation and shows because that last alpa drive was frimly rejected by over 60%. We have 0 pilots on furlough and are crediting almost 90 hours a month, life is good for skywest pilots.

Lastly you can poke fun at us for having 70 seaters but as you've seen in the last two years your company has shrunk because they are still set on only flying an obsolete airplane, and for your information we do get paid more to fly the 70 seaters than the 50 seaters.

We're all RJ pilots and this is an entry level job.
So what flavor is the SkyWest kool-aid this month? Dude, get a clue. You guys are riding the coattails of every other carriers union negotiated contract....oh, and how are those medical benefits looking?

BTW, this is not a dig at all SKW pilots. Many of you get it, and I hope you are successful with the next union drive.

No we are not benefiting from every union carrier. A few yes, but not mesa, colgan, TSA, gojet, 9E, etc, etc.

Most union regional pilots just pay their dues and get raped anyway by their MEC, the upper 15% of their own list, alpa national, and management. But they get a cool magazine...

How about if you absolutely MUST respond to Slaphappy that you leave the rest of us out of it...

Actually I kind of suspect that slaphappy works for ASA anyway.

I said I wasn't going after the SKW pilot group as a whole. As far as Slaphappy goes....read some of his other posts....he is SKW, and a microcosm of what is wrong with the profession. He also has a strong distaste for ExpressJet.

I quote one of his gems:

I cam to skywest because that criminal organization known as Alpo wasnt' here. If you don't like it LEAVE!
WOW.

I am not saying unions are the greatest thing ever. Just like any organization, it has some serious drawbacks. ALPA national, for example, I don't have warm and fuzzy feelings for. But XJT ALPA, for the most part, does a very good job, and we have many things as a pilot group we would not have if we weren't unionized. The positives heavily outweigh the drawbacks. Hell, form your own in house union if you don't want ALPA.
