@squawkoff
I am an Eagle aspirant & have been following this thread closely.
What U said above makes perfect sense & I have a question...
Can a new hire pick his Aircraft and / or base ?? If I know I want to go to ATR, am I asked what is my choice when I get the appt letter or report for training. If not, then at what point do I make make it known to company abt my choice??
I have gathered so far that ATR is DFW, MIA & SJU bases, people have also said MIA is very senior base, what is it true as regards to ATR
How likely is to get MIA or DFW base on ATR in the next few months as I am still working to complete my minimum hours for Eagle app.
Pls advise

You're correct about the ATR bases.
When I received the phone call about a class date I was told what was available and if I wanted that class or to wait. I don't know if they are still doing that as they have a different group doing the hiring. If they do do that the choices they offer on the phone are not in stone. May be different on day 1.
They are going to have to start hiring in to they ATR in the next several months as ATR Fo's whose seat lock is up moves to the jet. As for me? I'm staying on the ATR. Great bunch of folks to work with. I'm still having a blast!!!!

Urine drug test and hearing test.
As far as I know all equipment is seat locked but it only matters for the ATR. You can only move to a different aircraft/seat if it means more money. First year pay is the same no matter what equipment you are on. After year one the jets are paid at a higher rate so the ATR fo's/CA can transfer to the jet. If you pick a jet you are there until you are displaced or make CA. Also if you pick a jet you will have the ATR guys/gals transferring over to the jet and they will be senior to you during your first year. After a year you will start gaining ground on the jet. I was No. 1 in my class and picked the ATR for QOL. I was on reserve for 4 months and started holding day trips on month 6. My advice is, if it's an option, take the ATR and spend your year there. You should hold a line after 4 or 5 months. Then, when your years up, transfer to the jet. You'll have a years seniority and you'll be closer to having a decent QOL. Who knows you may like the ATR and want to stay there.

I was hired in Jan 2011, An I picked the EMJ DFW. I am going to hold a line in July. So no matter what you choose the growth here is such that you can have good quality of life no matter what you choose. What makes the difference is living in base. I say choose which ever one gives you that option. It is true that once you pick the jet you can't jump to the atr unless you upgrade or displace.

Sorry for the thread drift but I have a quick question. Where would a June 7, 2010 hire be on the DFW ATR F/O list? On the DFW EMJ list?
I have a few college buddies and an old instructor in that class, curious how senior they are these days. Having trouble getting their contact info.
