Ya true, all the sim instructors seem to be AE guys who fly the line though, and I am not at all disagreeing with you.

Question guys, if someone TDYs into the base I am in for the month VOLUNTARILY do they go to the bottom of the list? IE will they be below me in the base for the month since they VOLUNTARILY TDYd in? I am trying to figure where I am going to sit for next month.

I think they go to in wherever their seniority can hold in the reserve list. If is involuntary then the person will hold a line. You're new so the bottom of the list is waiting for you.

Ya I have been loving it, luckily my base is small and people have slowly been coming in. I just want to know how much effort to put into my bid for next month, these 3 VOLUNTARY TDYs could make a huge difference.

If they volunteer, they get reserve. If involuntary, they bid there seniority.

Just bid everything, except std by lines.....

...unless you want to be the whole month sitting in the crew room waiting for a call that might not come.

The voluntary TDYs bid after everyone else does. If no one bids the ready lines they will be assigned the ready lines (as long as there are enough pilots to bid every reserve line). If a regular person in your base forgets to bid the TDYs will get their bid in before the person who forgot to bid (it usually happens to at least one person a month) If the TDYs are awarded a normal reserve line they will be on the reserve list and proffer based on their seniority. So your best bet is having no one bid the ready lines and have the tdys get them.

As for the ground and sim instructors there are some great ground school instructors (SS) who fly the line regularly. You will get more out of their classes then the professional ground school instructors. (and that's why they are paid 95 hours of CRJ credit a month) There are also some sim instructors and check airmen who have not flown in 15+ years due to losing their medical.
