When I signed up, it wouldn't let me sign up with my gmail account; I had to use my work email. Something about not using a "free" email account. He tried to sign up with his work email, but it blocked it like it was a free email account.

What do you mean he can't get an account? You can make up an email and get an account...

The airline pilot forums do not accept a free email like yahoo or gmail etc account for membership, it has to be a company type email account....

I have a few friends who could not get on the forums due to same reason.

So you do a trial with AOL then cancel it right after you have your login info for APC

Yeah I had the same problem but it would accept my comcast email that I never even use. Chances are whoever your Internet provider is will provide you with X number of email accounts and APF should accept that.

I'm not the pilot, I'm a legal assistant; I'm behind a desk all day and have the time to snoop around the forums.

You could have just given him the username/password from the beginning and let him do all the work... Just sayin'
