Thanks for the SA, rick, especially since I'll be picking equipment/domicile on 15 Aug.

And I realize the standard "anything can change between now and then" applies...

Don't pick a base because of how quickly you can be off reserve. Like Rick said things can change and will change quickly, one vacancy bid and things change. Pick what aircraft can get you to the base that you want. Just because someone is holding a line this month doesn't mean you will next month. People are going to continue to come their seat locks in the ATR and will be pushing you to the button.

That is spot on, and there are never ending rumors and changes, any move you make is a roll of the dice, I took JFK over LGA because of something I was told on here by the guy from NH who I think is at J6 now, I think his name was flyby, and it paid off, if I had taken LGA I would have been Standby for months now and waiting months to get to jfk. It is all a gamble, like if you want LAX you could take the CRJ ORD/LGA and hope they open a base out there since it has been a huge rumor for awhile now and would make sense based on how the flying is. You MIGHT get lucky and end up being in a super junior LAX CRJ base, sort of like how LGA CRJ has been the last year, and MIA EMJ is now being, but it could also back fire majorly.

Make your descisions based on current facts. Not rumors.

Yep, also based on which bases have a good group of senior FOs that are coming due for upgrade, that was the info someone gave me, and it paid off. For example I think LGA CRJ is a bad bet because it is mostly 2010/11 new hires, you want somewhere top heavy. Right now I would say LGA EMJ is fairly FO top heavy, right now it sucks because of no movement, but when it does move, it will move FAST.

no apu/prop brake is downright terrible. there's no escaping it..dfw/mia/sju are all equally horrible. the pca carts are rusted out and do little to cool the airplane.

I never flew the ATR but I have about 6000 hrs in various models of C-130's. (Not J models) I suppose the ATR 72's with the six bladed props are smoother than the four bladed versions, but I would just be guessing. I'd have another thousand hours or so in the Herc if it didn't break all the damn time.
i never noticed a difference up front, but there may be a noticeable one in the back

Vibrations from the props tend to beat the hell out of everything and maintenance has to stay on the plane all the time to keep it in decent condition. Eagle does okay as far as I know, but it's always a battle.
"battle" is accurate. 1/2 problems are poor engineering, (ex emergency light wires exposed right next to main door steps, so pax feet and bags rip the wires and we're grounded) 1/2 problems are from ground handling and such (ex all powered up and ready to turn #2, ask for air to be removed and they shut the whole ground cart off and airplane goes to battery basic. no bueno for the electrical system). the airplanes are also getting old.

When I got hired, we could pick the base we wanted.

Quick question for anyone who can answer it. On the prior employment papers for the interview. I just have to fill out the top section of like company info my position and that right? Keep the bottom empty and they will fax that back to my place of work?

My biggest worry with this interview is the paperwork...
