That’s if you can hold onto your job. AMR will put up all that 135 lift up for bid and Eagle employees will get screwed. I would expect 30% of the pilots on the street once they officially break up Eagle. The equipment is obsolete and cost structure is too high to be competitive. I expect Pinnacle to move in or Express Jet, putting hundreds of Eagle employees looking for jobs. If you think I'm wrong just ask yourself, "Why did AMR do this"? I'm not trying to ruin any hope here just being realistic so people can make an informative decision when choosing.

Thanks Mr. Expert. Where's Pinnacle and ExpressJet going to get all the pilots? They can't staff their own flying as is!

Your Welcome. Why is AMR going to put up Eagle lift for bid? Did you read the press releases and reports from Wall Street analyst. I'm not an expert but I read and make rational conclusions based on the facts. Then please tell me your opinion? You think this will allow them to grow? You think they are competitive with 135's to bid on other routes? I can't remember the last airline looking for 35 seat jet lift. Please tell me how this is good for Eagle. Just give me one reason, even if it has nothing to do with the economics.

I would like to see any regional take over Eagles feed in the next 3-5 years. No one has the man power right now to do it. Plus with the Majors in talks of hiring the flood gates will open and no one will be properly staffed for a long time. I don't understand what makes people think their airline will take over feed when they can't staff their own feed. All of this talk is just to scare the senior guys at AE to go over to AA.

I'm not hating on Eagle. I never want to see anyone on the street. But look at the facts. Please, anyone tell me how this is good.
I'm going to recent my 30% on the street comment because they will lose most of these through attrition and the flow up. But the possibility of guys on the street is a real option. |

It's ok though you can flow to AA.

Your right no one can just come in and take it over. It will start with 10 planes then another 20 plane and so on. The CRJ 700's are safe. Unless AMR wants to give them to another carrier to fly for them. Just another point to think over. 30% won't won't loose jobs over night but I bet you in 3-6 years they will be 30% smaller.
There will likely be a 3-5 year CPA that covers all current Eagle flying. Spinning off Eagle to shareholders then cutting back the flying will destroy what little value that Eagle has and **** off shareholders. AMR has to make the Eagle spin off look viable to the SEC If they start cutting flying right away after promising to make it viable then they violate the law. Look at ExpressJet for example. None of their flying was cut until several years after the spin off was complete. Besides who is going to do the flying? Staffing is very tight at every airline except Comair and Mesa. Neither of those carriers can do Eagle flying because they have 70+ seaters on their certificates. |

Nope, you aren't ruining hope, you are giving valid advice. My husband has an offer from Eagle and XJT right now and we are trying VERY hard to make the right decision. Long term, XJT looks better bc Eagle's future is just too uncertain. Short term, however, quality of life looks better at Eagle.
Oh Fly, in this business you never choose "Short Term" you may find yourself stuck for a while... |
