Its ok, I need to stop eating up the thread, its just a nightmare trying to find somewhere right now, and the worst part is they like to do things last second down there. Up north things are cheaper, a few months out, and people want to rent things as early as soon as they know its going to be vacant. Down in South Florida, the apt complex's use this software that jacks up the price, and a week before something is up for rent it lowers the price. I my lease sends at the end of Sept, so if for some reason I cant get something I will be in big trouble.

With the growth of the base down there, I hope all my frustrations and posting on here, does help someone else down the road, I have posted/got posted back at, with great info, that would have been a huge help when I first started looking.

With a composite/relief line, you still typically get 11 days off a month, but you know your sched the just before the month starts (after all the open time and trip trade windows close). If they have enough stuff left to build you an entire month, you will have a schedule all month of flying. However if not, you may have a few days on reserve. I think you still have to call scheduling to get released when you return from every trip.

I Am not sure about the composite lines being built after OT. I think it goes TTOT then they build composite lines. After composite lines are built then OT window opens for 48hrs. Then you get TTOT open for the whole month. He needs to contact swaps and drops so he can let them know what he would prefer, nit that they will give to him!!!

Ya I should have disclaimer-ed, I have never had a composite line, but I have sat on the edge of one for a few months, so I have been asking people a ton of questions about them. A girl I know just had one, and she got all the days off she wanted by emailing swaps/drops (which you need to do now), and that included some weekends.

Homestead is A LOT cheaper but it is kinda far south and there isn't much happening there. I have a 1 bed apt in Kendall for a little under $1000/mo. With all the foreclosures down here rent is getting out of control. Average time to MIA from where I live is 30 min no traffic and with traffic which is always the case it can be around an hour or more. PM me if you have any other questions about the area.

I am interviewing on Wednesday, and I have read in my Pre-Interview packet that commuting is not recommended during probation. After completing training, how long does probation last? Also, what is the AE policy on buddy passes, and are they good on AA? I know the non-rev policy is great for family, but what about taking a friend on an occasional trip?
