Looking at the original posters question, I was wondering if time on reserve has changed with all the hiring?

I'm sorry, but are you angry because the pretty road you imagined in your head isn't coming true?
Get used to it. This is the way it is. People are flying because they want to and are getting hired. The current state of affairs will not change so you can have your heavy metal job. Nobody is doing anything anyone else wouldn't do if they were in the new guy's shoes...including yourself.
This is not the new wave's fault. You're out of your mind if you think the new guys should just step down and stop wanting to fly because it will hinder your career advancement.

Enjoy your ride. If you make it to a major, you'll be the angry low paid b-scaler doing most of the complaining. If you never do and end up a 90-seat RJ captain getting crapped on for 70K a year, then you'll finally get it.

Not angry at all. You guys are the ones that will likely have to swallow the reality you speak of.

I flew with a Capt a few weeks back, guy is 30, went to a college that is for aviation, he is making 75k+, his college buddies are at Jetblue, Eagle as Capt, and CAL. That is coming into this industry in 2001.

Again, is not how much people you have below. Is how much people above you move.
AA lost 100+ captains last month. Even only 5 guys have to go next year, people is retiring before that.
I moved 200 numbers up in a year, and they have hired like 350 to 400 in this year. I'm still on reserve... figure it out.

Out of curiosity, what base/equipment are you on?

I agree, though it sure helps having people below in the event that things go south and furloughs start happening. I'm considering leaving my current regional where movement is stagnant, primarily because working for Eagle would mean living in base vs. a long commute.
