Guess you are entitled. Forget helpful advice. You don't need it.

Thats right! I don't need your advice on how to act professional or how to behave in a jumpseat or what kind of behavior a company - be it Delta or any other - expects of an employee. Thanks for your condescending, though. Again, what makes you think you are better than me, or any other regional pilot, cargo pilot, charter pilot or ditch digger for that matter. You guys are not my moral, ethical or professional compass. Pervasive attitude of most Delta pilots! BTW, you guys have some real peaches over there, too! I assure you!

It must be my luck, but I've seen shockingly poor behavior by Mesaba pilots on hotel vans at the airport and on jump seats. Bad enough that their names still come to mind. They might be the World's most qualified pilots but I sure am not looking forward to working with those particular individuals. Such behavior will not be tolerated at Delta. A few of your pilots make the whole group look bad. Three tips:
(1) Delta handles that sort of thing on its merits and the kind of behavior I saw would result in being fired with D-ALPA's blessing.
(2) If that happens, management will manage their airline. That would be bad for those who hope to flow behind them.
(3) If you are a Delta pilot, they expect you to act in a way that makes your company look good. Of course Delta pilots screw up also and notice when they're in the news there is often a comment about their job being in jeopardy as a result. The best policy is to always be polite and professional to your co workers, the staff of other airlines and even the people at the hotels

Lambert still on your list? Spiky hair, bleached tips, uniform intentionally modified?
Don't these "tips" apply anywhere? Unfornately, we have pilots who make our pilot group look bad, just like any other airline in the country. These pilots are disrespectful and have bad manners, not the entire group. I don't disagree with anything you're saying besides the idea that the actions of the few should reflect the quality Mesaba pilots as a whole. I've witnessed Delta/NW pilots in the terminal, in my jumpseat, and in hotel shuttles act disrespectfully and unprofessionally also. However, I don't automatically group the whole Delta pilot group together as sub-par.

I don't really understand the whole feeling of ill will. These are people who are in the same industry as you, trying to get to the same point in their careers. What happened to supporting others who are in the same boat as you? Did you not have anyone support you when you may have been at the same point in your career progression?

Meh, every pilot was viewed as a young punk at one point or another in his/her career. I just shrug it off when I see older guys giving "younger" guys crap. I think those who do so are those who got their feelings hurt the most when they were just starting their career and feel the need to "give it back" to the "new" guys.

Bet you'll really cling to that belief when they call your number to flow up?

I don't think that was his intent so much as stating that you probably know who the bad apples are and you should manage your own hen house. If they do come and carry that attitude you can bet that the EVP of Flight Ops will get word about it from the CPs. If the flow doesn't work with qualified, and by qualified it means more than just being a pilot for 20 years with XJ, they will find a way around it. I would hate someone ruining it for me if I was an XJ pilot.

Yeah, as in if you know who the bad apples are, and you probably do, the pilot group should try and get them to change their behavior before it negatively effects everyone. At my previous employers, we knew who the guys were. The difference was there was no guaranteed flow through to move these guys up. They never made it past the major interviews. Well now, that mechanism doesn't exist for XJ or CPS. They will flow up and if the behavior doesn't change on the bad apples, for better or worse, it will look bad on themselves and the groups they came from. I just got done with the schoolhouse, and I know that the flow through is not looked on favorably. It is what it is though, but you can bet there will be a microscope over the guys that flow. I think that's the gist of these posts. At least that's how I view them.

The problem is that no interview process is going to weed out these apples, not at Delta, not at Mesaba. I'd like to know how the guys that already flowed up are representing Mesaba? The few I knew were good guys and had good reputations. Why don't you judge us on those guys instead of some preconceived notion of what Mesaba pilots are like.

I agree with some that there are bad apples, but there are some in every airline. I also agree that we do need to police ourselves. Some people need to grow a pair and stand up to the people who make us look like crap. I have had and will continue to have no problem telling a Captain or FO that they are out of line. I like being treated like a professional and I expect everyone to act like one.

It is kind of funny though that these flow agreements were looking good when Delta wanted to furlough but everyone knows they didn't because it was not financially viable to flush all of Compass.

Now the tables turn and it is good for the regional guys and look where the conversation goes.
