That salary equals $500+ per hour

I would only like to see the CRJ 5 year FOs get paid the same per seat as the E120 FOs, just $1 per hour per seat, 1/10 of Chips salary per hour. Is that to much to ask for so an FO at hour company can have a decent income by year 5 seniority? I believe it is just a very humble request.....

CRJ FO 5 years $1 per seat per hour. It would equal $50
CRJ CP 5 years $1.5 per seat per hour. It would equal $75

Now that would be a fair pay (even if increadiable low compared to mainland) and a raise for both CP and FO from todays pay.

Nobody is asking for %38 percent raise in two years, just a pay above poverty level for our lowest paid pilots.

Poverty level is ~11K for family of 1. ~37K for a family of 8. Just sayin

yes and this was taken from Reuter news: The poverty threshold for a family of four in 2009 was $21,954, the report said. The Census report relies on cash income and government payments, including unemployment insurance, to measure poverty.

In any case, we all know that these numbers are extremly low and nobody can survive on 11k even alone and try to survive on 22k with a family of four or 37 with a family of 8...............

people should be paid accordingly to what they invest in their profession.

If you pay 20k to achieve a position you should be paid more than the ones that do not pay anything and less than them that paid 30K or more.

A 121 airline pilot pays 50K to 100K to get to his position and he should be paid accordingly.

have some dignity and selfrespect, why do we have to explain to other pilots every detail about why they should be better paid?? or is it just that you climbed enough so you do not care about the ones below you??

$50 an hour for a 121 pilot that have invested $50 to $100k and five years of work at their airline is not asking much.

So your life aspirations are based on the poverty level??? That's for people who didn't finish high school, not people who invested years and many tens of thousands of dollars in professional certifications.

The word "poverty" has no place in this discussion.

I concur, it's just funny SKW gave your negotiating team money to divide and it seems like they gave it to themselves (I'm assuming people making the representation decisions are captains). We all know all the captains are going to vote yes so you can bet it'll pass. I like that one poster said you guys should take it and ask for more later. How about a proposal that freezes Captain pay while all that money goes to a 20% raise for all FOs. Once FO pay is up to an acceptable level then and only then you ask for a more raises for both seats. The pay disparity right now in the regional industry is crazy, I don't see how you FOs over there are not rioting over how the money is being divided up in the current proposal. When my regional's contract is up, I vote no unless FOs top out at $60, even if I'm a Captain by then.

I like how people here blame the company for the low FO pay. The payscale was created by your union, not the company, company just says we have say 500m to spend on overall compensation you divide it how you want. Your reps created the CA$90/FO$35 pay scales. It could have been CA$70/FO$55, they company doesn't care.

Anyways, rant over and good luck over there.

You do realize that the raise for captains is a meager 1.5%??? Not exactly a huge sum, especially when you compare that to the Chipsters almost 40% increase!

1.5% CA equates to 3% for FOs(pulled out of my arse but sounds right)? and what? a 5% override for 900 Captains. So I bet money wise that's probably enough for a 10% raise for your FOs if there was a pay freeze on the Captain side. Again, I don't know any "facts" about this, all I know is what I read on here. Everything I say is of course my opinion of what's fair. You can always ask for more later right?

Here are some facts...Every Captain at this airline was once an f.o.! Some of us actually had to start in the right seat of turboprops flying up to 13 legs a day with no autopilot, and a repeater on our side for ILS's flown down to minimums. Not once as an f.o. did I ever think or say that the Captain I flew with deserved less, so that I could make more.

I have been saying that all of us deserve a better offer without trying to cut out 1/2 of the pilot group to benefit myself... Perhaps you should consider that dividing the pilot group(as in give it all to the f.o.'s and none to Captains) will only produce infighting that will not be productive in getting all of us a better overall increase!!!

I don't think the captains deserve less, but do you think they deserve a larger raise than first officers? If so, why?

Secondly, I doubt upgrade was 6 years when you were an FO, most understand the validity of "paying your dues," but these days most guys are spending longer in the right seat than the pilots of yesteryear spent at the "commuters" all together before they were on with a major. For this reason I think a more livable wage is reasonably expected.
