Proposed new pay package for SkyWest
#291
Talking about merging all three groups will be the center piece of any new attempt by alpa to try and hijack skywest. The majority of skywest pilots are very much against this proposion. This is why another alpa attempt will fail.
I just don't understand why some of you think now all of a sudden a drive at skywest would work when the last one only got 35%. Tons of pro-union guys have left, and if you think the vocal spoiled 34XXX or 35XXX numbers or the clowns from chicago are the majority you're fooling yourself. Even with the new unenthical voting rules the new turnout will still have alpa voted down. Just look at the pay proposal, it had more support from the pilots than alpa does. I know many people that were against alpa but voted no anyway but I don't anyone that was for alpa that voted for this pay package. Of course there has to be a drive for there to be a vote and a handfull of people who call themselves the "organizing comitee" not supported by alpa doesn't make it so.
I don't understand why all the people who whine about how bad skywest is just don't leave. ASA, Eagle and a bunch of other regionals are hiring. Why don't you guys go there? You wouldn't lose much seniorty since most are junior guys on reserve anyway. You all knew skywest wasn't union when you came here, so why did you even apply?

, but why settle for the continuing errosion of compensation and QOL at Skywest.

If someone is too lazy to get off their rump and vote then it shouldn't count, period. If anything, the previous rules were unethical.
The new voting rules are unethical. That's hilarious.

The company is trying to create good out of nothing. I believe according to federal law, at a non-union company like us, benefits are supposed to be equal for all the work groups. Basically pilots cannot have better benefits than FA or rampers over mechanics and so on. Therefore the PPO and 401k that they are proposing in the pay package will have to be offered to the entire company. Which means its not something special for pilots only, but they are sure presenting it that way.

I'm glad you said it.
What coup for the usual union bashers. On the one hand, they'll have the benefit that they always have. Riding the coattails of the organized labor's negotiations to improve their "policy manual" language.
On the other, they can say "look, the union failed to negotiate good language and now we're stuck with it. What a failure of organized labor"
Now, cue all the usual suspects that LOVE to hate the carriers that have organized labor.

Holy Piggyback! Must be great to work for an airline where you don't have to negotiate work rules and pay.

Some of the other benefits that Skywest continues to get without any element of contribution:
CASS (developed by ALPA in conjunction with the Feds)
Crew Pass (where available, also developed by ALPA in conjunction with the smurf police)
New Rest regulations (also developed through the facilitation of data provided by ALPA carriers, with only a 5% provided by non-union carriers.
Should I go on? What has that "student council" called SAPA done?
