While I am in favor of legal representation, its hard to "drag down" other regionals when you earn more money than almost all of them. There's no doubt that many ALPA carriers have used SkyWest's payrates and work rules to help IMPROVE their contracts.

My guess is this pay package will pass by 75% of those who vote.

From what is posted above, this latest pay package is below or equal to most other regionals. Pinnacle just got 4 hour min day in their TA, which is more than your 3.95. Plus, several main points of your "contract" hinge on the ASA/XJT merger. This just makes it harder for ASA/XJT to negotiate because now we are basically negotiating for you too.

What have you been looking at? Express, ASA , Eagle all make substantially more.. Congrats though you are doing better than Mesa, and all the other carriers that had their contracts handed to them in bankruptcy. The only reason skywest has the rates they do is because ASA ALPA gets what they do.. We would be all better off if you guys could raise the bar on your own.. As it stands now your pilot group is just sitting there waiting for the ASA/Express Jet contract to give you a nice raise..

Some of the other benefits that Skywest continues to get without any element of contribution:

CASS (developed by ALPA in conjunction with the Feds)
Crew Pass (where available, also developed by ALPA in conjunction with the smurf police)
New Rest regulations (also developed through the facilitation of data provided by ALPA carriers, with only a 5% provided by non-union carriers.

Should I go on? What has that "student council" called SAPA done?
The first one was rejected, so we didn't just roll over. A lot of folks don't like this either, but I'm not sure what will happen. But nobody has voted on the proposal at hand yet...why start flaming already?

A lot of SKW pilots really hate alpa, I pondered this and realized we come mostly from the west coast and the rockies, ie cowboys, surfers, and loggers. I think as a group we naturally just don't like other people presuming to tell us what to do. If the alpa advocates really want SKW on board, maybe constructive criticism instead of bashing.

Riding on the coattails sounds like a good business decision to a lot of pilots. Alpa is not a religion or a "brotherhood", it is a business tool which serves mostly itself, then senior major airline pilots. Forget that and you are an idiot.

The current folks running our "student council" are the best we have ever had, better by far than the clowns I have seen running regional alpa councils.

There is a drive going to certify sapa. I'm not sure if the financial numbers will work out but I hope they do. I think we could get this passed a lot easier than another alpa run.

Might be stupid questions but .. Whats the deal with the asa/xjt contract? Will they have a contract before or around the time that the integration is complete?

The last communication concerning the JCBA was sent late last week and stated the negotiations were going smoothly. The negotiating committee believed the TA would be complete this week. We'll see.

I don't think we can begin integration until a contract is in place.

ALPA had the most financial backing and lobbying power to get it done. But remember, two other airlines were at the front of that also. AA (APA) and UPS (IPA)

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you weren't at SKW during the UAL BK. And decisions made on pay rates drug everybody else down. SKW didn't do anybody any favors. Those affects lasted a pretty long time.

Kind of a broad/sweeping generalization, don't you think? I've been baseed from the northeast, the midwest, the south, and the west coast. Don't think you can really pigeon hole people like that. You're in the military, are you not? So can it be inferred that you like people telling you what to do?

Well of course they are. Just look at how clever they are at putting the responsibility to improve the jobs of SKW pilots on those at ASA/XJT.

True, can't have an SLI till you have the JCBA.

From a P2P rep, they were looking at somewhere between a year to 18 months IIRC before it's all said and done. But remember, who knows how it'll pan out on things like fences, if there are any.
