Proposed new pay package for SkyWest
#341
Duvie, I agree that we won't be able to get more from the company (I've had those discussions with Russ as well). It seems like this is were management is drawing the line, but that doesn't mean I'm ok with it. I respect everyone's decision to vote yes or no, but i personally feel that by passing this pay proposal it will just re-enforce their apathetic perception of us. I know it means leaving money on the table and I feel for the Bro FO's but, I have a mortgage, student loans, ect. as well and extra money would be nice but this pay package is a joke.
Luckly most tenured bro FO's are having the chance to transition, it's going to suck though for the incoming guys.

If we vote no then we don't get a pay increase.
I voted no on the first pay package but I'm going to vote yes on this one, because I think its the most pragmatic choice. I'll go with idealism when the time comes.

My main point was that SKW isn't bringing down the industry in terms of wages earned.
As far as the language on the ASA/XJT JCBA I can't understand why you would think this hinders you. That language ensures that we don't undercut you. It minimizes the reasons for us to be played off each other by management.

My apologies. I was looking at FO rates which are still some of the highest in the industry. CA rates are industry average. Our workrules are still great but I'm not sure how that compares with every other regional out there.
SKW had a 3:45 min day, 2:1 duty rig, 1:1 rig over 12 hours, and profit sharing plan years before ASA. ASA has their workrules because of SKW so who helped who back in 2007? Does ASA even get SKW's generous holiday pay to everyone at the company regardless of who actually works?

First of all we are talking about an association not an union. Second, the improvements in this agreement will improve over ASA(I'm not familiar with XJT). SkyWest will set the precedent for paying both CA AND FOs more money for the -900 over the -700. Minimum daily guarantee will be more than ASA. FO rates get extended to an 8th year which is more than ASA. Brasilia FOs get an 8% increase immediately. Reserves finally get 11-12 days off which matches ASA. Our language concerning your JCBA helps to ensure we don't undercut you on healthcare or retirement. That reduces the whipsaw threat.
What sort of min day or rigs does XJT have?

According the survey, most of the people who voted no found the practice of only paying captains more for larger airplanes to be unfair. The original package paid captains 6% more for the -700 and 8% more for the -900 while FOs only received 5% more for both. This pay package has the FOs receiving an equal 6% and 8%.
Look, if you don't want to be used as a whipsaw against ASA/XJT, there is only ONE way of assuring that!
Exactly why I asked earlier. They are just getting played and used against ASA/XJT.

So... I don't really see the point voting. Either the company will give you a pay increase or the won't? .. That's what it sounds like.

Management approves the pay package proposed by SAPA before the pilots vote on it. If we vote yes, we get the raise obviously. If we vote no, SAPA tries to come up with something else and the company has to approve that before the pilots vote on it again....

For current SkyWest pilots...for someone getting on in early 2011, what would be a realistic time frame for upgrade? I have 4 years seniority with my current airline and I am trying to decide if it is worth jumping ship. I do not anticipate upgrading for another 3 years. With all the hiring that is anticipated...is a 2-3 year upgrade going to be feasible? What percentage of CA's would you estimate are never going to leave? Is SkyWest going to be another airline that has 20+ year CA's?

You won't be upgrading in 2-3 years, and there have been 20+ and 30+ year CA's here for quite some time!
