So you're really comparing a stagnant contract negotiation with losing fleets, a sham bankruptcy, furloughs, stagnant progression...
Listen, all of us at Mesaba understand your frustration. But for you to disregard the pain, anger, furloughs, displacements, base closings we've had the last 7 seven years as being some pre-school tantrum shows a level of ignorance that is hard to comprehend.
You've repeatedly said we don't understand. OK. Fine. I don't understand.
Do we at Mesaba feel we can get an agreement? Yes. Did we think it would be done in 45 days? I didn't but I also understand that not much happens until the last couple of days. Can it be done in the next session in 3 days? I think it's possible. Based on todays Mesaba ALPA phone conference call I do believe that Pinnacle management MUST get an agreement much sooner than later. The pressure isn't coming from us.
A number of you ask what we bring. I am not sure I have an answer that you will find satisfactory. Will we support you, yes. Will we stand up with you, yes. But I can't give you the confidence in your MEC as I have in mine. I suggest you call your rep to find out what kind of external pressure Pinnacle is getting. If the information is accurate survival of the company could depend on an swift agreement with a smooth transition. I sincerely believe that if the agreement isn't done in the next three day session, it will be fairly quick afterward.
Course I am just a JV player...

NOTHING happens if uncle Phil doesn't want it.
This is a team effort and you are throwing your shoulder pads in the stands having a temper tantrum!

My MEC is going to be focusing on what is best for the Mesaba pilot group. Just as I'd expect the 9E and 9L MEC's to look after the best interests of there groups. Together we can be very strong. It sounds like all of us will benefit from each others efforts.
If the JCBA gets done it'll be from a lot of effort by all the groups. And no matter what if your MEC doesn't like the result then they just have to say "no". So even if the Mesaba MEC likes the contract if 9E or 9L don't like the contract all they have to do is say no. And the contract won't get put in place. Heck you and I won't even get to look at it.
So again what do you expect our MEC to do that yours can't or won't?

SERIOUSLY STOP SAYING THIS "NOT OUR FIRST RODEO" B.S........
WE AT 9E HAVE BEEN "RIDING A WILD BULL" FOR LONGER THAN ANY CARRIER IN HISTORY...
Your "Rodeo" was like Junior Varsity basketball--Pinnacle Management is the friggin' NBA as far as you're concerned, so seriously do yourself a favor and stop your self-righteous BS like you guys are a bunch of seasoned veterans with grey hair from all your "rodeos" with Mesaba management...
It's like walking up to Michael Jordan and bragging about how you were the all-state point guard for your 8th grade basketball team....

What are you implying? We should be thankful to the 9E pilots and give up seniority in the SLI for it? That's ridiculous. We could turn around and say without us, you would still be on ICE, and 9Es MEC should remember that.
How about instead, we all bring good and bad things into this merger. We should consider each other as equals and integrate as such. That's all the XJ guys want.

It doesn't sound like the Union is getting anything even close to what you describe. I'd like to know what it would take for the Pinnacle pilots to vote yes on a TA. It sounds like to me the vacation slide is in jeopardy and healthcare costs will be going up. If this TA won't pass then what a huge waste of time. Anyway, I think we will have a TA to vote on before the new year.
1. Better payrates than TA1. (TA 1 rates would have been acceptable after 2 years of negotiations not this 5-7 year BS.)
2. VAC slide
3. Truly good 401K/match, not 9e's current "industry leading" (leading the bottom maybe)
4. Ironclad scope
5. Stellar payrates if heath insurance goes up. I need to have at least a $4-5/hr raise in my pocket after all expenses/insurance is paid.
Now of course none of these is a definite no by itself. It all depends on how they are tied together overall. Gimme a $12/hr raise and management can take their vac slide back...
Jayray, if we have something to vote on before jan 1, 2011, i will buy you 4 cases of your favorite beer.....and 2 hot escorts.

I actually envy the unity that the xj pilots display. When was the last time you heard a pinnacle guy say he stands behind the mec. I know we have been burned before, but only through unity will we accomplish our goals. Our group is deeply divided. We have many here who would rather b1tch about the union than the company. There is only one group that is keeping us from achieving our goals, that is us. I'm guessing that most of this stems from a fairly immature pilot group coupled with poor mentoring from the senior guys. We would all be lucky to have the unity that the xj pilots share.
