Hold the line guys, no one is on their own. The politics of this thing are spiraling out of control. I assure you 9L and XJ will be there for 9E when it gets ugly(ier). Don't break unity.

Why does it have to be ugly?

For XJ this has been going on since Sept 1rst, the JOINT contract negotiations.

I understand that 9E guys are frustrated, but this is not 9E's contract negotiations, it's a chance to pull all of us under one umbrella.

It all comes down to perspective, 9E feels the need to beat the war drums, and XJ feels this is still moving forward so keep it moving forward.

XJ MEC is NOT throwing 9E under the bus. We are all in this together and if it comes to a real impasse, XJ will beat the drums and we will rally the troops.

Just because 9E is ready to blow up these negotiations doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.

We are all reading into this way too much. There is no bad blood, at this time 9L and XJ just don't feel the need to picket YET. 9L and XJ also haven't been negotiating a contract for 6 years. I fully expect the 9L and XJ MECs to call on their members to picket come the new year when there isn't a TA. This says nothing about a lack of unity, it says at this time the MECs of 9L and XJ still feel energy would be better spent working on this joint contract.

That would be the case if the MECs stated no position, or told their members that picketing was up to them. The 9L and XJ MECs specifically told their members to not participate.

9E pilots will be getting more support from direct competitors and airlines that have nothing to do with 9E than they will from XJ and 9L pilots.

Haven't 9E pilots always shown up to XJ picketing events in much greater numbers than the reverse?

This is a completely different circumstance. As said above, once an actual impasse happens, we will all be walking side by side.

9E is NOT ready or willing to blow up negotiations. Even IF negotiations implode by the company, us, XJ, CJC, or all at once..... 9E would STILL be on ice with the NMB hoping to get back to the table. A deal will not be made if we aren't at the table. We all ARE at the table and now continuing on the company's (now invisible) deadline. We have always been on the company's deadline. Just think about it. The first 2 deadlines were easily used to pressure the union to get things done. The JNC has been busting their tails in effort to get this done and I have no doubt they will continue @ MCT until completion. JCBA or not, when you have been given a deadline aren't you held to it? The Pinnacle pilots have been quiet on the sidelines for not 6 years, not 1 year since the group voted down a TA, not the 60 days and 2 deadlines, but have stood up to a management group in an effort to better not only their QOL and compensation, but also the profession. We all preach unity, then we are selective with support which inherently causes a division.

No disrespect to the PCL MEC, but there's a difference between being unified and following a group off the cliff, and I think it speaks volumes that the XJ MEC and 9L MEC are both against the picketing event.

Is ALPA National SPC even going to be there?

I understand that 6 years amendable is frustrating and it's hard to separate the two, but this JCBA has absolutely NOTHING to do with the history of the previous failed 9E negotiations.

If the company is playing hardball then why aren't the other MEC's onboard? I fear a deal may be in reach but PCL pilots are too caught up in the history of their negotiations to believe it.

YES! I have had repeated phone calls this morning discussing this very thing...
