I've been laughing at this for a solid 10 minutes. Simple, effective, to the point. Probably the best critique I've seen thus far.

I try to be neutral to the whole name thing. In order to complete the SOC process they have to rename the company as a whole. So it was either Expressjet, Atlantic Southeast Airlines or something else. They were going to have to re-brand one of the companies. Might as well do both.

Honestly what was expected? With 10K employees, there was no way to please the majority at once. There really is no cool name. A name is pretty much what you make it with the brand.

Just think if you were renamed jetBlue. Or Airtran. Or Easyjet. Or Spirit. Or Virgin. Or Wizz Air. (given none of these names were ever used) I can hear it now. Expressjet? Sounds like a clothing store. Might as well be "Gapjet" or "Abercrombejet". Delta? What kind of crap name is that. What are they naming us after faucets and urinals?

Any name is going to sound weird in the beginning no matter what. One day it will settle and hopefully the company will get their act together and make it a good place to work.

The major issue was the big deal the company made over the name change. They should have just said we are changing the name and the next day posted it to the site. Having that event made it kind of awkward when the name came out. It's very simple. Was kind of anti-climatic.

SkyEast would have been more logical. I know at first it doesn't sound great, but it makes sense and eventually it would have grown on people. This name is just embarrassing.

I'm not buying your analogy. The name is even hard to say phonetically. Why must we even change our name? Atlantic Southeast bought ExpressJet. Should Delta have changed their name, should SouthWest, Pinnacle? Maybe instead of re-branding us every couple years put those resources into improving our airline. Now our name and operation is a joke.
P.S... Delta's name came from their roots of cropdusting in the Louisiana Delta, not urinals. It has meaning and history.

Perhaps you meant Brad Holt? I don't believe Hanley's son works at SureJet.

SureJet has meaning and history. It has a proud heritage of keeping people dry and smelling fresh...
