Want your day off rolled? Sure
Want us to violate the CBA? Sure
Want a new contract? Sure

Want to inherit a substandard PBS? Sure

I guess it could have been worse. When the marketing/suit genius of UAL was conceiving what would later be an abortion called "Theodore" (TED), the corporate codename for it was "Starfish". That's right, "Starfish".

Honestly what was expected? With 10K employees, there was no way to please the majority at once. There really is no cool name. A name is pretty much what you make it with the brand.

Just think if you were renamed jetBlue. Or Airtran. Or Easyjet. Or Spirit. Or Virgin. Or Wizz Air. (given none of these names were ever used) I can hear it now. Expressjet? Sounds like a clothing store. Might as well be "Gapjet" or "Abercrombejet". Delta? What kind of crap name is that. What are they naming us after faucets and urinals?

Any name is going to sound weird in the beginning no matter what. One day it will settle and hopefully the company will get their act together and make it a good place to work.

The major issue was the big deal the company made over the name change. They should have just said we are changing the name and the next day posted it to the site. Having that event made it kind of awkward when the name came out. It's very simple. Was kind of anti-climatic.
I don't agree with you at all! SureJet has the feel of a fly by night, startup company that no one is going to remember in a few years. City Jet sounds better, even something like Atlantic Jet. Who did they talk to about this?? I feel let down, and it doesnt even sound good or feel good to say. Hello I work at SureJet! Dont like it, very dissapointed!!

Atlantic Jet...that's got a pretty good ring to it and if used as a callsign I doubt it'd be easily confused with anybody else

I agree that how they came up with the name and didn't really include anyone in the making was wrong. I can see how people would be disappointed with something as subtle and simple as Surejet coming out at a "reveal".

Although I don't really care what the name of my company is, I don't know if it is possible to satisfy the majority of 10K employees in any name change scenario. When I interviewed at ASA and chose ASA after a few offers, my determining point had nothing to do with the name ASA. Point is, I think it's more important to be concerned with QOL, pay, and the future of my job then feeling cool when I tell someone who I work for.

Naming this company is important but I think there are much bigger issues that have nothing to do with the name of these two companies merging.

But we will see I guess. This is just my opinion as I wanted to add to the discussion. No offense intended. Sorry if I did.

Does anyone have the video of the event? Not the company video or the Sure commercial, but a camera phone of the unveiling? I'd love to see people's reaction to the name.

Oh brother, here we go.....

Wanna derail a funny and humorous thread as well as beat a dead horse? Sure

Is the current ASA PBS system better than what the ASA line bid system was? Sure

Is the current ASA PBS system better than the XJT line bid system? Not so sure, in fact, not even close. If XJT had to inherit the ASA PBS system, it's nothing but substandard. In fact, to get it to run with the XJT CBA would require a TON of software parameter changes, and possibly and entirely new vendor.

But hey man, you don't have to take my work for it. PM me, I'll GLADLY give you the email of the XJT scheduling chair that has watched multiple award runs in ATL over several months.

So sure, derail the thread, as well as be uninformed and ignorant. By that, do I mean YOU? sure.......
