Don't gotta buy my analogy. Just thought I would help you see things a little differently. Seems that a few people including yourself are extremely bothered by this name change. I'm pretty sure most of the people that are totally wrapped around the axle on this name change will continue to work for the airline. So the faster you get over it, the better your QOL will be.
I'm not convinced that they are going to reconsider changing the name to something everyone on APC could agree with. So acceptance might be the only option here. Unless you have another job lined up and are willing to jump ship. I myself see it an easier option to just hang out until something better comes along. But that's just me.

Im completely with you on this... Id say get over it... Or better yet, Eagles hiring, I would not mind moving up the seniority list.

I agree that how they came up with the name and didn't really include anyone in the making was wrong. I can see how people would be disappointed with something as subtle and simple as Surejet coming out at a "reveal".
Although I don't really care what the name of my company is, I don't know if it is possible to satisfy the majority of 10K employees in any name change scenario. When I interviewed at ASA and chose ASA after a few offers, my determining point had nothing to do with the name ASA. Point is, I think it's more important to be concerned with QOL, pay, and the future of my job then feeling cool when I tell someone who I work for.
Naming this company is important but I think there are much bigger issues that have nothing to do with the name of these two companies merging.
But we will see I guess. This is just my opinion as I wanted to add to the discussion. No offense intended. Sorry if I did.

I doubt anyone took offense, no apology needed.

SureJet is just rediculous. What's wrong with something like Atlantic Express? A little bit from two of the best in the regional industry.
The name matters. We have made the claim of being the worlds first "Super Regional". SureJet sounds like a 3 or 4 airplane startup charter company.
Let's face it, if you crap on a plate, it will smell less rancid in 24 hours, but it is still crap, and will always be crap. Sometimes the best thing to do is drop back and punt!

Yeah, I heard from a friend at SkyWest that an internal memo came out today saying the feedback on the name change was so overwhelmingly negative that they have put it on hold.
Then there's that article:
Looks like people are paying attention to this thread!
Then there's that article:
On some airline message boards, for example, postings expressed a combination of surprise, disbelief and discontent regarding the change, along with satirical takes on the name
