I don't know how much an airline is able to actually acquire, but they will have you sign a release for them to attain ALL COMPANY RECORDS, and MOST FAA RECORDS (PRIA, FOIA, Privacy). Like I said, I don't know what they can actually get, but they make you believe they have access to everything.

Lakes has gone after people in a hardcore way, to get the training contract. Lakes has the State of Wyoming in their back pocket (this isn't the only example of that):

EVERYONE knows there is a training contract, they make you read it and signed that you have been provided the contract to read and they have answered your own questions. If you go there you have to deal with the consequences. 15 month of work after your check ride or 7,500 dollars... It's that easy, you made the commitment then do it. I know it sucks if the put you on the streets while under the contract and then they call you back but this specific scenario is in the contract.

I don't know what sort of argument you are attempting to make, as I'm saying the exact same thing you are. Look at my user name. I've been at Lakes, and out of the contract for years. I KNOW EVERYONE KNOWS THERE IS A TRAINING CONTRACT. I was saying exactly what you just stated: "If you go there, be prepared to deal with the consequences." I'm arguing the enforcibility of it, and Lakes' willingness to go after people for it. Because, someone said something to the effect earlier: "Don't even worry about the contract. I've never seen it enforced". It's my opinion that noone should go into Lakes with the plan of breaking the contract and not paying it, as you never know what measure they will use to get their money. Fully expect to pay it if you leave, and you will be fine.

Sucks you folks had your classes cancelled but look on the bright side - now you can get hired at the local burger king and make twice as much money while being home every night. Boy did you dodge a bullet!

I was at Lakes for 5 years and I know of at least 3 people who had to pay up in regards to the training contract. Don't let anyone tell you that they don't go after people.

They'll go after the 7500.00. It might not be immediately in some cases, but there will be a certified letter in your future if you decide to leave early. I've heard people come to class and ask this question as if they're planning on something else coming shortly after they finish. Frankly, if you are asking this question that early in the game, you're not planning on finishing out the 15 months. Be smart. If you don't think you'll finish the 15 months, don't do it.

Yet I know people at EGL who left there. Its simple, MOVE, get mail forwarding and send it to a UPS BOX, tell them you do not want certified mail coming to your box. Now you can not be served.
