well what can we say, the union and the spineless pilots at AE voted in a concessionary contract. the company is broke, we are being sold, we are no longer american eagle because american eagle is a brand name now for anyone to use while feeding amr. the flying that the formerly know company american eagle was doing for aa is being farmed out now to others.

And AE ( unknown new name) wants to hire 400 pilots (for what no one knows) and will pay 5000 dollars sign in bonus ( 2 million of the 46 million the pilots gave away) because the last new hire class had only THREE people that showed up.

run away from this place, since other regionals will be getting flying from AA, they will be growing. AE is downsizing. Choose carefully where you want to be.

What no talks of a pilot shortage? Lol. On a serious note, does anyone know why all of a sudden they are hiring 400?

I got the $5000 bonus in 2008 when I was hired, not worth it IMO. I kept it tucked away in the bank until my contract free'd up the money in case I jumped ship (18 months if I recall correctly). AE's future looks bleak and if you have the option to go elsewhere I would as a new hire. I went to Eagle because I only had two options and Eagle was the better of two evils. And if you think you can just get hired, take the money and run, AMR will crawl all over you to get their money back, they love to prove a point.

you will have to sign a pre-employment contract guaranteeing service for about 18-24 months. also you will have to place a credit card account number on file with human resources with a signed authorization for amr to charge you 5000 dollars before being hired.

Do you really think AMR was paying 5K for the training?

I've heard it's for attrition..apparently we're losing 20-25 per month. Could also be prep for when UAL and DAL open the doors..but I laugh a little inside trying to tell myself that they would do something proactive
