You never completed the task. Show me a mainline pilot group that controls whom the regional flying is awarded to. We as a bargaining agent only have so much leverage. We can't raise pay, improve work rules, improve WB scope, recapture all flying, and sent all regional flying to ALPA pilot groups. We have to negotiate. It's not easy when AA pilots are fighting BK, UAL pilots are bargaining up from a BK contract, CAL pilots from a POS 2003 concessionary contract(which supposedly averted BK) and Us Air pilots don't even have a single contract yet! DALPA has managed to negotiate 2 contracts with vast improvements and job recapture, while every other Legacy pilot group has 0.
What 9e has become sucks, but it's not DALPA's fault. Pinnacle had no business buying Colgan or Mesaba.

STOP! POINTING the finger at each other. Its embarrassing. This has very little to nothing to do with either pilot group contracts or decisions. It has everything to do with Delta.....the management. Simple, Delta not making money with 50 seats....has to get rid of them....making billions so they can't shed them in bk themselves. They pick an airline that they can force to play ball, force them to buy an airline from them, make it look like it was their choice they bk them and shed unwanted items. Period. No pilots are in control of this mess. Pinnacle was told this is how it will go. You will go bk shed some stuff we don't want then we will give you some bigger shinny planes.....or you can liquidate slowly if you don't play. Pilots don't have the gold in this part of the game and we will not make this call. JHC! How in the hell is management is so effective at getting us to fight amongst ourselves is beyond me.
ps Johnso I picked your post to quote, you have thick skin and are a mod so its easier

You cannot blame mainline pilots for this debacle. You can definitely blame 9E and DAL management.
Pinnacle bit off more than they could chew mby buying Mesaba and Colgan. DAL knew it, and encouraged it. DAL swooped in and gained control in the bk. This whole thing was a nod, nod, wink, wink of criminal proportions. And the best part is management has the PILOTS fighting each other over it! Brilliant move.
Stop it!
Now back to the point. DO NOT accept a concessionary deal! "We 'might' get 900 growth if you just take a big enough pay cut"? Never (ever, ever, ever) has that promise come true. Don't do it! I hope you guys give DAL management the middle finger and dare them to shut you down. We have jobs for all of you at ExpressJet, and mainline will be hiring insane numbers in the next 5 years. All is not lost.

I for one am not starting over commuting to another regional to sit reserve as an FO. Neither will I vote for any reduction in our already substandard pay.

If your point is merely that regionals pay us so little that we're always looking to pick up an extra trip just to pad out the checking account, then I agree. But not everyone does that.

I blame bad mgmt at 9E. Phill got the ball rolling and the airline has made one bad decision after another. The well had been poisioned long before Delta sold XJ to 9E. Just look at the cluster going on there now. They have pilots who haven't flown for 6 months and they have CRJ 200/900 pilots who have to go thru a full blown training event just to keep flying the same plane they are already flying. I suppose thats Deltas fault too?
