The pilots at Skywest are dual qualled on the 200/700/900. ExpressJet and Pinnacle are not.

Keep trolling. I couldn't be happier where I'm at. Sorry your life is so miserable you have to take it out on an internet forum..hiding behind an anonymous user name.

If you think things are so bad here and great at other places you should pack up and leave. You won't, though because not even you believe in your own B.S. that you spew.

The APC Regional forum is toxic because of people like you. You are lucky the Mods have a very loose interpretation of what constitutes trolling.

The reality is hire from outside its 1 training cycle or if you hire from a wholly owned its 3 training cycles.

You do the math.
Taking the flow out of the equation, consider that a during your scenario a captain making 120k a year at eagle would be replaced by a captain making 65k, and an FO making 25k... It would cost between 30-50k to train them as eagle is working on a new way to train captains since we all hold ATPs and Type ratings (switching equipments affects this). Also take into account 401k match, vacation and other factors... The cost of the transaction would be covered in a year! The problem will boil down to the ability to replace the pilot at eagle not cost!
I'll repeat it again for you slow types.
The mainline carriers don't care about the training costs at the regionals given the choice they'd rather cause training cycles at a competitors wholly owned than at their own. In the middle if a pilot shortage, they're happy to keep the $100k senior CA at the regional rather than continually upgrading with nobody coming behind them.

The above is true especially when those $100K senior captains compensation is slated to be indexed to the average of the lowest paid carriers out there and that's BEFORE they are whipsawed against other regionals. Within 2-3 years, top scale for 76-seats at an AE carrier will be about $85/hour and with PBS, you'll only be paid for what you fly. Bust your butt and fly the Maximum 1000 hours/year and make $85,000. Many will fly 700-800 for substantially less. Dollar for dollar 401(k) match is better then most industries and that will almost certainly get trimmed as well.

It's just the future reality.

Considering that there aren't many wholly owned regionals anymore, and the majors do care about the training cost of the regionals. If you don't think they do to as Pinnacle on how the training cost helped burry them in BK. Delta held the payments and they ran out of cash.

well leaving for a major in masses does not help the training costs either, and they complain if you are here to long. sounds like a spoiled rotten kid to me. need s a good wack.

Not leaving any time. Why give up a gravy schedule and decent pay at my seniority level? Even if we go down to 47 planes, I'm safe. I do enjoy the flying! The future here isn't that promising like it or not.

Maybe one day when you get more experience on how this business work you will understand.
Cranky old captain, get out of my seat!!!
