Im wondering what the fall block hrs are "supposed" to look like. I agree this is going to be a rough summer for both groups though.
I'd say get used to it, but fortunately for you, you got a lifeboat.

This is typical of our management. No hiring until we're in a staffing crisis, hire seasonal help, then furlough in the fall when it all comes crashing because DAL pulled 30% of our flights due to poor performance. This "management" has no long range plan. Never have. All they know how to do is put out fires as they start... usually by starting three other fires. The thing you have to remember about ASA management, for years under DAL, no one in the GO had any real responsibility. OCC ran the airline, and "management" just filled positions, and turned the lights on and off whenever DAL told them to. This culture really never changed over there. That's why our PR and "rewards" departments are so huge. "Management" has never had t actually run an airline. It's nothing but OCC putting out fires. TFAYD!

3 reserves available system-wide on the ERJ side as of right now. That should give you an idea of where our staffing is. Sit tight if you're in the pool. My WAG is that we'll start hiring this fall to start covering for the new FT/DT regs and more attrition. Who knows.

So you believe no hiring until fall maybe drain the pool but not refill it?

We need guys in class by March 1st to cover the summer. That won't happen, though.

PS was doing manpower planning last year, he left to UAL. The current group has NO IDEA how an airline should be staffed. This summer will be the worst in ASA/XJT history( past 10 years anyway)

It's hard to imagine how it could be worse than the last two summers.

So this position notice never happened? When I interviewed in January they were saying classes would start end of March/early April. If that's still the case how early will we be notified of a class date? 2 weeks prior?
