Fellow American Eagle Chicago Pilots:
Last week, the DFW and New York local representatives sent an email to their councils accusing the MEC Chairman of an inappropriate expense reimbursement. Until now, Rxxn and I have elected to stay out of this kind of petty foolishness and instead, focus on representing Eagle pilots' best interests. Unfortunately, someone has to set the record straight so that the American Eagle pilots can understand what kinds of individuals are making these accusations.
First, please understand the following; the MEC is a body that functions by the will of the majority. In other words, every member gets to speak their mind and cast their vote, but at the end of the day the will of the majority rules.
For the record, the DFW and New York reps were opposed to the TA reached in 2011 regarding the divestiture and were either opposed to the bankruptcy TA in 2012 or chose not to vote on the issue at all by way of an abstention. This does not make them bad or good, it simply means that they were in the minority and were overruled by the will of the majority of the MEC. Keep in mind also that the MEC Chairman and Vice Chairman don't vote; so when I say they were overruled by the majority of the MEC, I am speaking of the other duly elected leaders of their respective domiciles.
I too have been overruled on a number of occasions. Sometimes it is very disappointing or frustrating, but I respect the will of the majority.
Confirming the will of the majority was the fact that 85% of our pilots voted and 75% of them voted "Yes" to the bankruptcy TA. In other words, the system of representation and the will of the majority worked.
Who I have zero respect for are the four reps in New York and DFW who have made it their mission to destroy the credibility of this MEC at every turn simply because they did not get their way with their political agenda. MEC elections are this August, and those making the accusations are demanding MEC officer resignations or they will keep making the accusations. Apparently, they cannot even wait until August to try to accomplish their political agenda.
The accusers have anything but a clean record.
Last year, the Captain Representative of Council 121 falsified an expense report and claimed that he drove to and from a meeting in Washington D.C. when in fact, he jump-seated at no cost. When discovered, this representative was confronted individually, at which time he lied to those confronting him. He was then presented with proof by a larger group, at which time he lied again. Only then was it brought before the MEC and surprisingly he lied again. Finally, when the MEC was presented with overwhelming evidence of this fraud, this representative admitted that he did in fact falsify the expense report. The MEC directed him to repay the amount he stole and admit this fraud to the pilots who elected him. He never did so. Guess who ran to his defense? The other New York and DFW representatives.
Why would they assist in his defense for something that was obviously wrong? Well maybe it is because they have similar morals. It was not that long ago when the DFW Captain representative instructed the new DFW First officer representative, who is now the Negotiating Chairman, that the way to get reimbursed for expenses ALPA does not allow reimbursement for is to claim them as office supplies, because the Finance Department has no way of verifying the validity of that expense.
A few weeks ago, it was discovered that for the past two years, the current MEC Secretary-Treasurer had rejected his company paid hotel room for recurrent training and instead, stayed in a union paid hotel, costing the MEC and the pilots hundreds of dollars. This was brought to the MEC's attention, and the MEC amended policy to ensure that this kind of behavior could not again occur without the approval of another officer. Guess who rushed to the MEC Secretary Treasurer's defense and voted against the new policy? That's right, the very individual who falsified the earlier expense report.
If you have a question about an expense, I would challenge you to call the individual who is being accused and ask him directly. I am sickened by those who claim to be trade unionists but instead, use all of their energy to trash others who volunteer to serve the pilots. This is especially true in a time where we have just inked a historic bankruptcy agreement that should place Eagle on solid footing for the next eight years, we are in the middle of negotiating PBS and AQP, and we are beginning to see over a dozen arbitration victories pay off as Eagle pilots once again begin transferring to AA. Our new 133 reps have a lot of work ahead of them and it is truly a shame that certain members of the MEC have chosen to make petty internal bickering their primary focus, rather than the needs of the pilots they were elected to represent.
I absolutely despise writing this letter because it makes it appear that all union volunteers behave in this manner, when in fact most of your volunteers behave with the highest morals, and utmost faithfulness and respect for the pilots they represent.
I am in my last days before turning Council 133 over to the very capable hands of Captain Glxxna. But I simply cannot leave this job while those who behave with the least morals and least maturity are allowed to trash those who have sacrificed unbelievable time and effort during the most difficult period in our history. I am proud of the improvements I achieved while serving as your elected representative. One of the biggest achievements was getting the right team elected into the higher positions of our Union when the “crap was about to hit the fan”.
It has been one of the finest pleasures in my professional life to serve the Chicago pilots over the past few years. It is my greatest wish that you have faith in the volunteers who sacrifice so much personally for the benefit of the pilot group as a whole. And it is also my sincere hope that you will be able to distinguish between those who work so diligently toward this end versus the few who use ALPA for their own personal and petty gain, and to slander the association and the volunteers who represent you. It would benefit you greatly to disregard the current New York and DFW representatives, for very few things that they say or publish have any validity at all. It would be better if the pilots that elected them held these representatives accountable for their own actions.

The same character who when finally succumbed to that meeting, held it a city stadium during a major sporting event that would be difficult and expensive to attend ?

yes frank the lec cap rep in ord is leaving us and returning to the line. after he and his idiot co-horts have damaged this pilot group he leaves. Maybe frank should explain his inability to have a base meeting for a year. a recall process was begun and put off having a meeting for 6 months to figure out with the mec how to get around it. They had a meeting 30 miles away at the ball park in chicago where most pilots ion ord were unable to attend. wonder where frank got the money for the cookout (buy off) for the pilots who were his local friends that supported him that were able to attend on memorial day weekend because no one else could afford the 30 dollars from the airport to the ballpark thats is if they could have commuted in on memorial weekend.
Oh where is the money FRANK that you did not spend for over a year on base meetings. Did you pocket it FRANK.
By the way, we are not sore losers because you and your friends railroaded the contract down our throats with false promises to the junior pilots. we were sore long ago since 2010 during the secret negotiation on a contract which you were a part of FRANK and which you and your friends lied about, the union being involved in negotiations without the line pilots knowledge.
Frank good to see you FAT A ZZ go. Welcome to the new ord base to be 1/3 the size it is now due to you and the mec's selling out the pilots. Hope you enjoy reserve coming your way and 5 leg days. You deserve it.

Isn't this the same character who went groundhog when pilots tried to contact him about holding a long overdue base meeting because he got wind it would include his recall ?
The same character who when finally succumbed to that meeting, held it a city stadium during a major sporting event that would be difficult and expensive to attend ?

If there was ever a pilot group in desperate need of a complete power wash of their present leadership, it's you guys. Every minute these megalomaniacs are in power, the worse off you are.

Ah yes, I remember ol' FK. The one (and thankfully, only) experience I had with this guy was when I called him as a newbie, at management's suggestion, to ask for guidance/help when payroll left me with a $100 paycheck due to "overpayment error." The guy wouldn't believe me when I told him what new hires were being paid during training (literally, said "No no, where did you get that from? That's not correct".) Then, told me to talk to payroll because "that wasn't ALPA's issue" and they couldn't do anything about it. Way to help out a "brother" there, chief.
I once flew with a captain who said that ALPA at EGL was nothing more than a very expensive magazine subscription. Man, was he right!

Not from dues, but from the concessions that big T. negotiated. Company really needed those cuts in order to be competitive....yeah right.....
New paint jobs, No fleet plan. Shrinking airline. So tell me what have been good to this pilot group?
